OC's backsory- Rei

A/N- As you can see in the title, this story is about my OC Rei's past. I wrote this for an application on another site- so you don't need to read it if you don't want to.

Being born into a wealthy family with special DNA that makes your appearance look better than average- sounds great, right? Vacations to different parts of the world, exquisite foods and clothing, and servants at your every command. Plus, like any other anime character, you have hair and eyes of an unnatural color that makes you look absolutely gorgeous. Amazing, huh?

Wrong. Well, to Rei, who was born into a family like this, it was wrong. Born into the world as the only child of this "amazing" family, she was to be brought up as a proper lady and the successor. The family strictly taught her everything she needed to know, all while showering her with more gifts and privileges more than one could imagine. 

...Well, they tried to teach her. Big emphasis on try. 

You know what they say- "There's a rebellious one in every group". Or wait, do they say that? Anyway, Rei was the rebellious one of the family. She didn't like how she was in a wealthy family. She didn't like how she was spoiled. She didn't like how she was forced to learn everything. She hated it. The only thing she thought was decent was self-defense classes.

And to top it all off? Special DNA passed down a superstitious family. Each family member had some sort of abnormal hair color/eyes, or sometimes both. Rei was not excluded. She was born with white hair- but that's not that abnormal, right? There are albino people in this world, after all. 

What really set her apart from normal people were her eyes. She had mismatched colored eyes- blue and orange. Great. Add a child born with abnormal, mismatched eyes with a superstitious family- and you get the title, "family treasure". Rei was already the one everybody had hopes for. Different colored eyes made the household believe that she had to be the heir. "She will bring good luck to the family," "She will definitely ward off all evil," was what many had said.

In the end, Rei couldn't take it all. Learning etiquette. Learning business. Being seen as the "family treasure". Being seen as an object worth of value, and not seen as a person. No. Freaking. Way. So when Rei turned 20, she ran away. Away from the household. Away from the superstitious family. And into the city.

But you know- it's hard blending in the crowd for the first time. Especially if you have white hair. And blue/orange eyes. And when a giant, wealthy family is looking for you. That was Rei. It was hard for her to find a place in a completely new society. For many weeks, she just strolled around the busy streets, refusing to meet anyone's eyes from below her hood. To be honest, she was scared of other people, and jealous of them. She didn't want to be different. She wanted average hair, average eyes, average everything.

And one day, she got her wish. She signed a contract with the organization called H.O.P.E., and lost her abnormal looks. Now she had brown hair, brown eyes, just like any other human in average society. But every wish comes with a price. She now had to fight in the Other World. 

Oh wait. That's not the bad part. The bad part? For some freaking odd reason, her appearance in that Other World was the same as her old looks. Great. And she had a bonus. Her right eye, the bright blue one, could now control the cold. Hey, that sounds awesome! Why is it bad?  Is the average person's reaction. Well, lemme tell you- that power was hard to control. And it hurt her health pretty badly. Besides, her eye colors were something she really hated, so her heart refused to use it. So if anyone was wondering why she wears an eyepatch, well there you go.

A strict, wealthy, and superstitious family. Wearing and bearing the brand name of, "family treasure" for 20 years. Running away from the family, only to find herself not fitting in with society. Finally losing the looks she loathed, but only to have it back in the Other World. 

Rei had been through quite a lot in just 21 years. But her story isn't fully completed yet. Oh no. It's just beginning, especially since she signed a contract with H.O.P.E. 

Things are really gonna go down now.
