Click clack, click clack
Stacy was slamming the keys of her keyboard, fiercely filling out documents one of her workers asked her for.
They've been cluttering the space on her desktop for forever now, and never had she thought of taking care of them until now.
At first, nothing interesting; payments, angry customers, complaints, taxes... Nothing out of the ordinary at first glance.
Yet, as she filled out an invoice for one of the customers and scrolled down to another one, she saw the job application of a young man.
Surprisingly, he was the same age as her- 22. Not poorly educated either, as he had many certificates and such.
Though, she couldn't be less impressed- after all, she had half a dozen herself. And all that thanks to her strict mother, who taught her resilience and how to be a good businesswoman.
Brushing the thought aside, she scrolled further down.
"Xavier Hunnigan..." Stacy mumbled out loud, putting her hand under her own chin and resting it on her desk.
He was good at seemingly everything that was needed to work in her agency; the perfect I.T. guy for sure.
She nodded to herself in approval, continuing to read through Xavier's resume. The moment she got to the bottom of the page, she smirked widely.
At the very bottom, in the space reserved for objectives, was a sentence, saying "I just need money".
Stacy put her hand over her mouth, giggling to herself as she stared at the monitor of her PC. "Then I'll give you what you need, you greedy thing." She thought and let out a sigh with a smirk on her face.
In a beat, she clicked on his contact info and copied it to her clipboard, before opening her Gmail and pasting in his address.
She began typing her mail, telling him how she wants to see him for an interview, to get to know more things about him.
She pressed the 'Send' button, and not even one minute later, Xavier responded. He had... surprisingly fast fingers.
The Email he sent Stacy was more of an essay than a message, basically saying that he'd be very pleased to come straight to the boss' office rather than the hiring manager's.
"...because she is my high school friend." Stacy stared wide eyed at the comment, shaking her head with a sigh. "Go figure..."
And conveniently, Xavier was just around the corner of the block, a less than a kilometre away. "Good. The sooner the better." She mumbled.
In the meantime, she could clean her office, or finish the document, or-
Her secretary suddenly burst into the room, exhausted as always. She opened the door widely, staring at her boss.
"T-There's a person... waiting for you... Miss..." She said weakly, leaning on her knees and catching her breath.
"Already?!" Stacy thought to herself in disbelief and looked back at the woman in the door to her room, her face showing nothing.
"Very well. Tell him to come here." She finally responded and got up, closing the blinds that showed the outside of her small office.
Once her secretary was gone, she sat back down on her chair and cleared her throat, drinking a cup of water to do so as well.
She began filling out the document she was focused on earlier; a common trick that was used by hiring managers and bosses alike to look like they're busy, or doing something important.
Then, when a sudden and quick knock came to her door, she nonchalantly commanded the person on the other side to come in.
It was Xavier, looking just like he did in the picture of his resume; brown hair, brown eyes, lightly tanned skin... Looks like he knew what he wanted from life.
He stretched his arm out towards her, shaking her firm, slender hand with his own. He sat down on chair opposite to her desk, looking at her with big eyes.
"So... Xavier Hunnigan, wasn't it?" Stacy asked a rhetorical question, continuing after doing so. "Do you know why you're here?"
"Well, I assume it's because you took interest in my resume, correct?" He responded with his own question, making the boss nod.
"Tell me, what are you good at, Xavier?" She frantically clicked back to his job application, skimming over the information.
"I have a lot of experience in I.T., having worked in Google for let's say... 3 years?" He nonchalantly said with a bright smile.
"3 YEARS?!" Stacy thought to herself in disbelief. This guy was I.T. material! His education at such a prestigious engineering school only made him even more valuable.
"I see, alright..." Despite her thoughts, she preserved her calm demeanor and look- gotta look professional after all. "And where do you see yourself in two years?"
The famous question, one that will determine whether Xavier gets in or not, the question that toppled the careers of many people, and-!
"Hopefully here, working as some tech guy or even just a simple businessman."
Goooooaaaal! He was in! He had won Stacy over with his simple, yet effective wording!
She stretched her hand towards him, leaning over the desk and smiling slightly. "Welcome to the Agency, Xavier Hunnigan."
He chuckled lightly in response, shaking her hand vigorously and smiling brightly. "When do I start? Oh, and, will I be under some guidance; you know, under someone's watch so they can show me what to do around here."
Stacy leaned back in her rotating chair, humming softly to herself before nodding and looking back at him. "Does tomorrow at 5:30am sound good?"
Xavier nodded back happily, as she continued. "As for guidance, I'll be helping you get settled into the environment."
Her words took him by surprise, as his eyes widened slightly before he nodded again. "A-Alright! I'll make sure to be there sharp!"
Stacy motioned towards the door, staring at his back as he exited her office and closed the door behind himself.
She sighed, shaking her head. "Such a sweet guy... What a shame he'll waste away in I.T. I'm sure some girls are into that though."
After a moment of silence, she shrugged. "I don't really see what people find interesting in relationships. It's kind of... pointless."
