When Fate had told her to make it out alive, she wasn't kidding.

Karina didn't know what to expect but she didn't expect to be woken up to the sound of herself screaming. She didn't know what waa happening until her eyes adjusted to the sight before her, she was being held upright by her wrists and there was a man in front of her with a scalpel in hand covered in her blood.

"Once again, she shows no signs of activating her abilities." The man spoke to someone beside him, and Karina could faintly make out someone behind him. "Are you sure she's the one?"

"The prophecy said that the first girl of the new generation of Clark's would hold the family's legacy." The woman spoke and Karina didn't know who it was. "She is the only daughter of Aurora Clark and Andrew Baxter."

At the sound of her parents' names, Karina wanted to sob. She didn't know what was going on, Fate had screwed her over. How was this supposed to be a better life for her?

"I heard Andrew had another child, is that true?" The man asked and Karina wondered if it was William.

How old was she now? How would that make William if he was here as well? She had so many questions, but her head was throbbing too much for her to actually attempt to speak.

"A boy." The woman said and Karina internally sighed in relief. "However, it wasn't with Aurora. It appears he cheated from a drunken night, but the woman died in labor."

Karina's head was spinning at this point, "Let me go... please." Karina weakly pleaded.

The man walked over to her, pushing the hair from out of her face. "Let you go?" He scoffed, "I can't do that... you have no idea how powerful you are or how powerful, you'll be one day."

"Wh-" Karina began coughing violently making the man step back from her. "What are you talking about?" She finally managed to ask after her coughing fit.

"We've been over this a million times Karina." The man snapped at her, but Karina couldn't remember anything. "I am not repeating myself again."

Karina couldn't get another word in as the man was leaving with the woman, she didn't understand what was happening or what was going on for that matter. She looked down at the large cut on her abdomen, it was leaking slowly, and she was glad that it wasn't a fatal wound.

She let her head fall forward and shut her eyes, she could hear them faintly talking behind the door to whatever room she was in but couldn't make out what was being said.

Suddenly images began to flash through her mind, memories of a life that couldn't belong to her and yet it did. It was her life, her life in this place where that man and his helper would inflict wounds on her every day in hopes of getting her to activate her abilities, abilities that she wondered if it was the one from when Victoria bit her.

Then she reached the memory she needed, the memory that told her why she was there.

"Why?" The man asked with a chuckle, "The Clark Coven is a remarkable coven that has flourished tremendously until its power began to dwindle."

"Power?" Karina asked him confused, "What are you talking about?"

"Magic, Karina." The man told her with a sigh. "Witchcraft and all its glory."

"Now I know you're crazy." Karina told him while shaking her head.

The man rolled his eyes, "Believe what you want but magic is real, witches, werewolves, and vampires exist, and you Karina are a Clark witch who has been prophesied to be the last to ever carry the Clark legacy of magic."
