RECAP...

"Crystal" he said, grabbing my waist as I walked past him. "At least tell me that you'll consider it."

________

♡ Devale's POV

"Excuse me" Crystal said, getting out of my embrace.

"So you're just gon leave without answering me?" I asked as I watched her head towards the stairs.

Crystal turned around and walked back to me. She then got into my personal space, barely leaving a gap between us.

"FUCK YOU DEVALE!" she said in the coldest tone I've ever seen her use. "Does that answer your question?"

"Woah" I remarked, taken aback by her energy. "Are you serious right now?"

"Nigga, are you?" She snapped back at me. "How the hell you gon stand in MY house and ask me to be your side bitch? Do you really think that little of me, Devale?" She asked with tears pooling in her waterline. "I gave you your first daughter, and this is how you do me?!"

"Baby, I -"

"Save it!" she mushed my face. "I don't wanna hear anything else that comes from your filthy mouth! Shit, I ought to be putting your ass out of my house, but you're lucky that I don't wanna be the type of babymama that doesn't let you see your child."

"Crystal, please just let me explain" I pleaded and watched her ignore me as she made her way upstairs.

Seconds later, I heard her slam her bedroom door.

"Shit" I let out frustratedly as I ran my fingers through my face.

Not long after Crystal went upstairs, I heard the sound of a woman humming. I turned around and saw her mother setting the table for dinner.

"H-Hello Ms Anita" I greeted nervously. "How long have you been standing there?"

"Long enough" she replied.

"So you heard everything?" I ask and she nodded.

"You mean, did I hear the disrespectful shit that you just asked my daughter? Yes, yes I did! And can I just say that her reaction shocked me. I'm not gonna lie... I got nervous for a second - because she really does love you and sometimes love makes us women do stupid things. However, I'm glad that she didn't agree to this foolishness. I'm proud of her for standing up for herself. There's plenty of men in the world, my daughter doesn't need to settle as your mistress."

"Ms Anita, I know that what I asked her to do was selfish, but I promise you that it wasn't meant to be malicious. I really do love your daughter, more than I've ever loved anyone else. I don't even want her to be my mistress, it's just that my wife won't let us be happy, so I don't know what else to do" I say. "Sometimes I wish that we lived in a country where polygamy is common and legal."

"I think it's time for you to go Devale" Ms Anita said. "You've overstayed your welcome, and I'm sure that your wife is expecting you to be home in time for dinner. So please leave" she said pointing at the door.

"Aight, imma leave. Just let me go say bye to my baby" I tell her.

| Nursery |

I walked into my daughter's nursery and lovingly watched her sleep while sucking on her tiny fingers. She is just so perfect! I can't thank God enough for blessing me with her. And Crystal of course... After all, she carried her with grace and went through the pain of giving birth to her, and for that I'll always be grateful.

"Hey baby girl" I whisper before softly rubbing her back. She moved a little bit, and started whining in her sleep. I gently patted her back and watched as she drifted back to sleep.
