Today is normal day

Or at least it was supposed to be

You were just walking back home after work, wanting to just crash into your bed but you had plans. Tonight, you wanted to finish the story of one of your favorite roblox games, Arcane Odyssey. One of your coworkers had introduced you to it, saying that it's a very good game.

You didn't believe it at first, but then you played it and got hooked. The story was pretty good, the magics and weapons were fun to use, and the characters were pretty nice though you were sad that the story didn't tell much about them.

Of course, it has its flaws. Unbalanced stuff, toxic players, and that other kind of stuff that often leaves you upset. But still, you had fun. But then, your phone buzzed in your pocket. It was Jade, your neighbor and partner-in-crime.

“Heyyy, Y/N!” Jade greeted you enthusiastically yet they sounded a bit… nervous?

“What's up, man?” You greeted. “How're you doin’?”

“Oh, I've been doing great! Thanks for asking! Uh…” They trailed off.

You raised your eyebrow. “Why are you acting so nervous? You want me to unclog your toilet again or something?” You teased.

“Wh- NO! Of course not! I don't need your help on that! It was just a one-time thing, okay? I just faced some problems…”

You laughed out loud, “Haha, okay chill out, I'm just teasin’ ya.” After you calmed down, you asked, “So, what do you wanna talk about? You seem like you wanna say somethin’.”

“Well…” Jade hesitates a bit before saying, “Did you accidently leave your stove on?”

That made you pause. For as long as you can remember, you were absolutely shit at cooking and rarely used the stove, you pretty much survived on takeout. But then again, you DID try to make something for breakfast (and it actually came out pretty decently) but you were sure you turned off the stove.

“Uh, no. I'm pretty sure I didn't, why are you asking?” You asked, hesitating on the last sentence.

“Oh uh, it's just that, I saw smoke coming out of your house and…”

“IS SOMEONE BURNING MY HOUSE!??!”

“AH! Uh, I-uh no?? I-i don't think so???” Jade said, startled by your interruption.

“Then what is it?????” You ask frantically as you started to run back to your house.

“I mean, yes. T-there's smoke coming out of your house but there's also uh-” You hear shuffling and blinds moving before an answer. “Blue smoke??? I think there was also this yellow light beam too-” Just as they said that you hear some weird distant noise from the phone. “Oh- yup, I just saw it again. I think it's coming from your backyard??”

“What????” You asked incredulously. What kind of bullshit is this?

“L-look, I-i'm not sure either okay?! Just get back home quickly!” Jade hung up, but you were already full-on sprinting to your home, accidentally bumping into some pedestrians on your way.

Not long later, you arrived at your house. And Jade wasn't wrong, there was black and blue smoke coming out of the back. You see Jade at the front of your house, most likely talking to the police but you paid no mind. You quickly got your keys and unlocked the door and went inside.

The inside of your house was fine, papers are still scattered around the coffee table, the stain on the carpet is still there, and the trash bin is overflowing with take-out boxes. But, the noises in your backyard tells a different story. You quickly went there and slammed the door open.

WHO THE FUCK-”

Holy shit
