If only I wasn't such a ignorant and cowardly person, maybe just maybe we wouldn't have been in this situation.

The two were never the same after reading each other's stories. Xiaquie tried to fix things but sadly her parents found out about the diary and prevented her from reconciling.
In the end Xiaquie suicided from depression and Jian would never know.
