This is the first time I've written a One Shot. I welcome suggestions. I hope you enjoy it. P.S.: English is not my native language, so if you see any errors, I'm sorry. Please don't be harsh on me and have patience.

"Every thorn stung, I was so numb

I almost didn't see you come.

When the wall around me were caving in

You saved my life tonight

When there's nothing left, but pouring rain

You saved my life tonight.

And I found my heart inside your hands

You Saved my life tonight

You showed me how to feel again

You saved my life tonight..."

Jackson Storm couldn't come to terms with having come in second place in the Florida 500 race. The idea of being defeated by Cruz Ramirez simply seemed unbearable to him. His hatred and envy towards Cruz Ramirez kept growing more and more... How could a simple trainer who came out of nowhere have beaten him? Every time he thought about it, Storm filled with rage because he judged that Cruz had become a racer without any effort and that she was only on the track by sheer chance.

And Storm's hatred grew even more when Cruz started winning race after race. Previously, Jackson loved all the attention from reporters and enjoyed having his picture taken and being interviewed, but since Cruz became champion, Storm only heard reporters asking questions like, "How do you feel about consistently coming in second place behind Cruz Ramirez?", "Have you made any adjustments to your training to reclaim the top spot?", "What do you think Cruz Ramirez is doing differently to achieve such surprising results?", "How has this streak of second-place results impacted your confidence?" and from that moment Storm decided not to give any more interviews, despite his team boss, Ray Reverham, demanding otherwise. Storm acted like a spoiled and tantrum-prone child, and that behavior began to irritate Ray.

Also, every time Storm checked his social media, numerous news articles on the subject would appear. "Cruz Ramirez Snatches the Throne from Jackson Storm: The New Queen of the Track," "Cruz Ramirez Surpasses Jackson Storm: The New Circuit Star," "Cruz Ramirez Takes Control: Jackson Storm Falls Behind."

There was nothing else in life that Storm loved more than being on the winner's podium celebrating first place and being the center of attention, but now it had become a true hell to have to endure seeing Cruz Ramirez happily celebrating another victory. He hated seeing her, he hated seeing her so happy, he hated seeing her smile, he hated her way of being, but what he hated the most was when at the end of a race Cruz approached him, took him by the shoulder, and said with that stupid joy and happiness that characterized her, "Hey, Storm! You did great, that was quite fun... Congratulations!" Storm only looked at her with indifference, immediately walked away, and all that went through his mind was how could she be so hypocritical? and he was sure that she only did it to mock him.

But all of that was about to change...

It was a spring afternoon at the Motor Speedway of the South, and the end-of-season race was in full swing. The cars roared around the track at breakneck speeds, with the drivers fiercely competing for each position. The sky, which had been partially cloudy, began to darken rapidly, and warning flags on the track indicated that a storm was approaching.

Minutes later, the first drops of rain began to fall, the yellow flag was deployed, signaling to the drivers to slow down and maintain their positions behind the pace car. However, the rain intensified, and the track became dangerously slippery.
