The weekend passed in almost the blink of an eye. On this fine Monday morning, Roy and Ivor held onto their school bags while they made their way to school. Much to the brothers' relief, they hadn't seen neither Primrose nor her family all day, yesterday. But to be fair, they had spent their Sunday indoors reading comics, playing video games, and spending time with Thomas and Blake. After that dinner with the Gaillots, Roy noticed that his parents didn't bother to try speaking to them all throughout yesterday. Did they also suspect that there was something off about that family?
His thoughts were interrupted by the sound of a voice that he loved hearing. "Madainn mhath, Roy!" Roy turned and smiled at the sight of his girlfriend and her younger sister, Esme and Ginerva. The short-haired ravenette rushed up to him, wrapped her arms around his neck gently, and gave him a quick peck on his lips. "I got your text message last night. I do apologize for not responding sooner. My two older sisters were visiting yesterday." Like Roy and Ivor, Esme and Ginerva had two older siblings that were in college. The older sisters' names were Isobel and Kenna.
"Madainn mhath, Ivor," Ginerva greeted her boyfriend with a smile before walking over and kissing him.
"Madainn mhath, Ginny," Ivor replied after breaking the kiss. Like Roy and Esme, he had met Ginerva in high school and the two immediately hit it off. It turned out that Ginerva was also in the Science Club which was how Ivor met her.
"It is quite alright, Esme," Roy assured his girlfriend. "I had my two older brothers over as well. So I understand." He wrapped his arm around Esme whereas Ivor did the same to Ginerva as the four continued to make it to school.
"I also got your text last night, Ivor." Ginerva looked up at her boyfriend with concern. "I did not know that you and your brother feel uneasy around your new neighbors."
Roy and Esme turned to look at Ginerva. "Trust me, you have no idea," Roy replied. "Do not get me wrong, they seemed pretty nice. Though, Mrs. Gaillot started to demonstrate a...wrathful side to her."
"Oh dear. She did not scold you, did she?" Esme looked up at Roy.
"Fortunately, no." Roy shook his head. "Rather, she had scolded her son, Vladimir. Either she was rather stressed from the move-in back in Saturday or it is possible that there is favoritism going on as she would always speak sweetly of her daughter, Primrose. But never of her son."
"That is rather weird and concerning," Ginerva replied, frowning. "I do suspect that it could be favoritism. Or Vladimir may have done something terrible in the past that practically damaged his relationship with his mother. Those are my only two theories, however. Personally, if I was in your shoes, I would have steered clear from that family."
"I agree with Ginny," Esme added. "I would steer clear of the family. Especially since none of us are aware of what they are capable of doing. Are your parents still speaking to the Gaillots?"
"Not anymore," Roy answered. "Yesterday, Ivor and I noticed that our parents didn't bother to make any contact with them. Plus, whenever my mother was in the kitchen and she noticed one of the Gaillots outside, she would be quick to close the kitchen curtains. Whereas my father would do some yard work while ignoring the Gaillots whenever they tried to make small talk."
"Are Thomas and Blake aware of their existence?" Ginerva asked. "How did they react to the Gaillots?"
"Oh, our older brothers are very aware, alright," Ivor stated. "They gave me and Roy the same warning: Stay away from the Gaillots."
