The morning leading up to that year's journey to Hogwarts was pure chaos as seven children and two long-suffering adults attempted to get out the door of the Burrow with enough time to make it to Kings Cross on time.
After multiple hours of chaos - most of the children with a certain exception did not wake up until they were quite literally forced to, and it only went downhill from there - they were piled in the back of Mr. Weasley's old car in a surprisingly comfortable fashion.
" Muggles do know more than we give them credit for, don't they?" Mrs. Weasley said - the nicest remark she'd ever made about that car - getting into the front seat with Ginny." I mean, you'd never know it was this roomy from the outside, would you?"
Everything went fine from there - except for the multiple times people forgot a range of "important" objects from inside the house.
By the time they'd actually made it out of there, they were very stretched for time.
" Molly, dear-"
" No, Arthur."
" No one would see - this little button here is an Invisibility Booster I installed - that'd get us up in ten minutes and no one would be any the wiser - "
" I said no, Arthur, not in broad daylight."
And that was that. They had to drive all the way to London and suffer briefly through trying to find proper parking. Finally, Finally, they were in front of the brick wall.
" Percy first."
Mr. Weasley followed him, and then Fred, George, and Arwen.
There was still no rest for the weary on the other side. Arwen picked up the bags of her and the twins before sprinting to the nearest train car with her friends in tow.
" You guys made it!"
She turned down the hallway to see Naomi waving in their direction from one of the compartments.
They rushed over, despite already being on the train at this point, shoving the luggage into the overhead racks before running back out to say a frantic goodbye to the Weasley parents.
Once everyone was safe and sound on the train and Hogwarts Express set off on its long journey, Fred, George, and Arwen collapsed into a pile, partially on the seats, partially on the floor.
After a long, long time, they relaxed.
" Thank Merlin," Arwen muttered, shifting so she was actually sitting on the seats meant for sitting on." I didn't think we'd make it, I thought we might have to..."
" Steal Dad's car for the second time this summer?" George asked, sitting down next to her and letting his legs lay across the rest of the row of seats.
"... Actually that's a better option. I was going to say we'd have to write to Hogwarts explaining the situation like Lee did Second Year."
At the reminder, Lee shuddered." I'd rather steal your dad's car too, after the letter I got back from McGonagall and the following detentions."
" I was more of pointing out what I saw outside of the window," George said casually.
"... What?"
The six of them all rushed towards the window looking out to see that he really wasn't lying.
Fred sighed, slumping back in his seat." Damn, that looks fun... how much detention are they getting for that?"
" I'd say at least half the year," Hestia said with a shrug." It wouldn't be the first time those two have done something unnecessarily stupid, and I'd be genuinely surprised if it ends up being the last."
" Do you think they'll get there before us?" Naomi asked.
" If they're smart about it... which they won't be."
The group shrugged collectively, moving on in their lives and beginning to start a game of Exploding Snap.
A/N: Sorry this is a shorter chapter, I wanted to include it in here, but there's only so much that can happen... Soon however... soon there will be things happening...
But, as per usual,
I hope you have an absolutely wonderful rest of your day/Month/Until I update next!
