Chapter 1: The Fall of a Hero**
The "Cosmic Brews" coffee was the kind of place no one would expect to find a former metahuman hero. The walls were lined with posters retro of video games and cult mangas: "Dragon Ball Z", "One Piece", and even "Final Fantasy VII". The familiar noises of customers playing "Street Fighter" on an old arch terminal added a touch of nostalgia to the atmosphere.
Akira Tendo, dressed in his black apron, was cleaning the tables muttering words from "Guile's Theme." His life, once full of fights and chaos, had been reduced to this quiet routine. He sighed as he looked out the window, dreaming of an even simpler life, away from all powers and violence.
"Hey, Akira, are you still dreaming of saving the world?" Haruka Tanaka teased, his best friend and colleague, joining him with a tray full of coffee cups.
"No, I dream of saving my back from this chore damn," Akira replied with a corner grin.
Everything seemed normal until the bell at the retentionsse coffee door. A group of three individuals entered, their faces half hidden by caps. Akira immediately felt danger. These guys were not ordinary customers; they were there for him.
One of the men, a colossal in the salient muscles and piercing eyes, stepped forward. "Akira Tendo. On one of the business to deal with."
Akira looks up to heaven. "Still fans, huh? Sorry, I'm not signing autographs today."
The colosse growled and got ready to grab Akira, but this one instantly reacts. Using his mass handling power, he suddenly weighed the table between them, turning it into an impossible obstacle to move. The colosse stumbled and collapsed under weight.
"Frankly, guys, you could at least try to be discreet," Akira says while standing up, ready to cut off. "You believe in a bad episode of 'Naruto' or what?"
The other two men degained strange weapons, similar to those seen in "Cyberpunk 2077". Akira smiles, excited despite him by the adrenaline of the fight. It's been a long time since he had had the opportunity to vent.
In a gesture of his hand, he smashed a pile of chairs into one of the attackers, nailing it to the ground. The other tent to shoot, but Akira increases the mass of the bullets, making them too heavy to be projected.
Haruka, hidden behind the counter, was watching the stage with palpable concern. "Akira, take care!"
"Don't worry, Haruka," he replied, while throwing a wink. "I survived worse. Remember the final boss in 'Dark Souls'."
The colosse falls in trouble, using a superhuman force to repel the table. "You won't get rid of us so easily, Tendo."
Before Akira could respond, an explosion retention outside the cafe. The door opens on the fly, revealing Yumi Nakamura, wrapped in a glittering aura. She entered with a grace and assurance that left no doubt about her intentions.
"Akira, we have to talk," she says urgently.
Akira rolls her eyes. "Great. And here's the temporal traveller. I guess you came to tell me the future depends on me or something ?"
"Not exactly," she replied, a smile in corner. "But there's a clan war going on, and we need you."
Akira sighed deeply. "I don't want this life. All I want is to serve coffee shops and break records at 'Pac-Man'."
"And me, I want to avoid a disaster," Yumi retorted, reaching out to him. "So are you coming or do you prefer to wait for the rest of the troop to come?"
Akira looked around, realizing her tranquility was definitely compromised. "Alright," he says, grabbing Yumi's hand. "But I'll let you know, if I find myself saving the world again, I'll really need a good coffee afterwards."
With one last look at Haruka, who nodded with a supportive expression, Akira walked out of the cafe, ready to face a new series of challenges. After all, even tired heroes must sometimes resume from service.
