Sleep is a wonderful thing. It’s kind of like death with benefits. You get to feel what it’s like to be dead without actually being dead. And it’s comfy.

Well, maybe not comfy right now.

“Ugh…my head…” Emma groaned, slowly opening her eyes, adjusting to the darkness. She couldn’t tell where she was or how she got there, all that she was concerned about was the massive headache she woke up to. Her arms reached out in front of her, trying to find something else to give her any indication of where she was. A frown crossed her face.

Why does this feel cushioned? She paused, a wave of realization hitting her. Wait a second-
Her whole surrounding was cushioned, it was cramped, and putting her arms around the space even more, it oddly resembled a coffin.

“Oh hell no…” Her eyes widened in surprise. “I’m actually being buried alive?” Usually, everyone tells you to save your breath and don’t panic when trapped in an enclosed space in order to save oxygen. But was she going to do that? Absolutely not.

Her hands began to bang on the front of the coffin. “Hey! Let me out! I’m not actually dead!” She shouted, hoping someone would hear her. After a few more minutes, she slowed, suspecting that she was already probably underground. Her breath came out short and heavy as she struggled to breathe. Now she understood why everyone said to stay calm. I guess this is how I die…

Muffled voices could be heard through the coffin, and a smile spread across the brunette’s face. Holy shit I’m not gonna die! She banged on the front of the coffin a few more times as she tried to understand what they were saying. Although, Emma couldn’t really hear much, just “End up in here”, “Unheard of”, and “Don’t come any closer”.

“Before I get into any more details, I might as well open the door to the last student.” A voice said, and the girl immediately backed up against the coffin wall. The door opened with a soft clang as a bright light blinded her.

“That’s bright…” She mumbled, stepping out of the coffin, stumbling slightly. Oh fuck, that’s embarrassing. Emma silently hoped that no one saw. Once her eyes got adjusted to the new light, she was shocked at what she saw. “What the hell…”

The brunette was greeted by a giant room filled with floating coffins, just the one she was just in. Tinted mirrors were on the walls just like the ones you see in churches. Although, the church ones looked slightly more aesthetic. In the middle of the room was a giant fountain with an old mirror on top. It would’ve been lovely to look at and enjoy if it wasn’t for the fact that she was surrounded by people wearing hooded cloaks. Seriously, was this a cult?
