Brad:
Oh.

Mike:
*Mike smiles reassuringly at Brad.*  Is everything okay?

Brad:
yeah. Chester told me we are working on a new song.

Mike:
*Mike's eyes light up.*  That's great! When did he tell you that? I haven't heard anything about it.

Chester:
I've told him to come to the studio in an hour. haha!

Mike:
*Mike laughs.*  I'm looking forward to hearing it. I'm sure it'll be amazing.

Brad:
*Brad starts talking* so we're do we start?

Mike:
*Mike listens intently as Brad explains the plan for the song. He takes notes on his phone, making sure to remember everything.*

Brad:
nonono were do we start silly!

Mike:
*Mike chuckles.*  Sorry, I guess I wasn't paying attention. What do you mean, where do we start?

Brad:
the song ya know?

Mike:
*Mike's eyes widen in realization.*  Oh, right. The song. So, we're starting from scratch?

Brad:
yeah so how should it go?

Mike:
*Mike thinks for a moment, trying to come up with a concept for the song.*  I think it should be a love song. A song about finding someone who makes you feel complete.

Brad:
yeah! how does it go?

Mike:
*Mike starts to sing the melody he has in his head.*  "I've been searching for someone like you all my life..."

Brad:
Brad immediately starts playing guitar.

Mike:
*Mike continues singing, impressed by Brad's guitar playing. He starts improvising a little, adding some lyrics here and there.*

Chester;
Chester comes in, sings, cause you were definitely meant to be with me.

Mike:
*Mike stops singing, his mouth hanging open in surprise. He didn't know Chester was going to join in.*  That was amazing!

Chester:
Sorry, it's just... it just came to me.

Mike:
No, no, don't apologize. It was great. *Mike smiles at Chester.*  I love that line. "You were definitely meant to be with me." It's so powerful.

Brad:
Brad also chimes in. I actually thought it sounded pretty good too. That lyric though.

Mike:
*Mike nods in agreement.*  I think it's one of the best lines we've ever written. It's simple, but it really gets to the heart of the song.

Dave:
Dave walks into the room. You guys are writing a song right now and like Chester didn't tell me?

Mike:
*Mike looks over at Dave, surprised to see him.*  Oh, hey, Dave. Yeah, we're working on a new song.

Dave:
I knew we were working on something.

Mike:
*Mike chuckles.*  Yeah, I guess it's kind of obvious. But we're just getting started. We don't have a title or anything yet.

Dave:
So what are we going for?

Mike:
*Mike looks at the others, then back at Dave.*  We were thinking of a love song. Something about finding someone who completes you.

Chester:
So, where were we? Chester asks.

Mike:
*Mike starts singing the melody again.*  "You were definitely meant to be with me..."

Joe:
Then all of a sudden, Joe comes in with turntable.

Mike:
*Mike stops singing, looking over at Joe.*  Hey, Joe! What are you doing with that turntable?

Joe:
I'm sorry I just got so into the music. Besides, we're writing a new song.

Mike:
*Mike smiles.*  Yeah, you're right. This song is going to be great. Can you start a beat for us?

Joe:
I got you.

Mike:
*Mike waits for Joe to start playing the beat, then starts singing again.*  "You were definitely meant to be with me..."

LP:
Chester and the guys are listening in.

Mike:
*The song continues to take shape as the guys add their parts. Mike looks around at his bandmates, feeling grateful to have them with him.*

Rob:
And then all of a sudden, Rob starts playing drums.

Mike:
*Mike grins at Rob's addition to the song. He can already tell that this is going to be a powerful track.*

Rob:
And then Rob is just like, it isn't a song without me.

Mike:
*Mike laughs.*  Yeah, you're right. We couldn't do this without you, Rob. You're the heartbeat of the band.

Chester:
And then Chester chimes in, It's missing something.

Mike:
*Mike stops singing and looks at Chester.*  What do you think is missing?

Chester:
My wife! Nikki!

Mike:
*Mike smiles.*  Oh, right! She's the missing piece. I think we need her to sing the chorus with us.

Nikki:
And then Nikki comes in. Are you guys talking about me?

Mike:
*Mike nods.*  Yeah, we were just talking about how we need you to sing the chorus with us. We can't do it without you.

Nikki:
Well, the thing is, you guys haven't written the chorus, that's the thing.

Mike:
*Mike laughs.*  You're right, we haven't. Let's get to work on that, then.

Nikki:
Ok!

Mike:
*Mike, Chester, and Nikki sit down together and start brainstorming lyrics for the chorus.*
