You step into the small fast food place where you'd planned to meet Veneer. You look around, trying to spot him when you suddenly feel l two hands on your shoulders. You turn around and see Veneer with a mint green hoodie on, hood up.
"Oh my God you scared the shit out of me!" You exclaim.
He laughs. "Yeah, that was the point."
You roll your eyes. "Well now that you're here, where are we sitting?"
"Come on." He grabs your hand and leads you to a table nearby.
Throughout the afternoon, you both talk and get to know each other better. You find out that Veneer was actually bi, not gay as a lot of people thought.
"I know that with the way I act that's what a lot of people assume but I honestly don't really give a shit." He said. "Sometimes there are times where you just can't convince people of something, and when it comes to the public it's best to just let them assume in my opinion. Trying to fight them will just end in stress, so, why do it then?"
"That makes a lot of sense." You say.
He smiles. "You know, y/n, you're not too bad. You'd be shocked at how many other celebrities I've met who were so obsessed with fame that they can't ever think about anything else. But you're not like that, you're honestly one of the nicest people I know."
"T-thanks." You blush, taking a bite of your burger. You've been talking so much with Veneer that you haven't even started eating it. But when you do, a small bit of (random sauce) squirts onto the corners of your mouth.
"Hey, you got a little something..." Before you can answer, Veneer swipes the sauce from your face.
You blush and giggle a bit. "T-thanks." Was all you could think to say.
"You're welcome~" He smirks.
After that, you both finish your food and leave, agreeing to hang out the next day. Then the next day you agree to hang out again the day after that. And the day after that, and the day after that...
This goes on for about a month.
On the twenty-ninth, Veneer asks you why you liked hanging out with him so much.
"Well... I'm not sure, maybe it's because you're really nice and easy to talk to?" You say.
He smiles, there was this look on his face that you couldn't quite describe, it almost seemed like... longing. "Well, so are you. I enjoy your company. Hey, y'know, why don't I you come over to my place for dinner. It'd be fun."
You think for a moment, before saying: "I'd love to."
He grins. "Great!!! Come on, let's go."
"Wait, now?" You ask.
"Well, it's nine O'clock and I'm getting hungry. It's not like we have food at a park." He says, motioning around to the grass and trees you two were sitting near.
"I guess that's true." You say. You follow him to his limo, texting your driver and telling him that he can go and that you'll call him when you need to be picked up.
When you get to Veneer's, "house", he warns you that Velvet might be in a bit of a bad mood.
When you walk up the steps, you hear faint yelling coming from inside.
"I DON'T GIVE TWO FUCKS THAT IT'S YOUR DAY OFF!!! GET THE FUCK DOWN HERE!"
"Is that Velvet?" You ask.
Veneer gives you an embarrassed look and nods. "Maybe you should go, I don't want you to have to see anything..." He trails off.
"Okay, if you think that's best. I'll see you later then." You say as you turn around.
"See you!" He calls.
You call your driver to pick you up, Veneer stays outside and waits for you until the car comes saying: "I don't want any weirdos coming and fucking around with you."
You just laugh and roll your eyes saying: "I suppose that's a good excuse for wanting to hang out with me longer."
When you leave, you glance back over your shoulder to see Veneer still standing in the driveway, watching as your driver takes you farther and farther away.
Veneer's perspective:
If only she could stay longer... Veneer thought as he walked back up the driveway and up his steps to the front door. He walked inside to see a messy kitchen. Broken glasses, ripped curtains, shattered plates and bowels. I guess Velvet must've gone through another pissed off tantrum. He thought. Thank God y/n went when she did, I wouldn't want her seeing this.
He began sweeping up all the broken things on the floor, tossing it all in the garbage. He then went into a small room he used to keep extra curtains, dishes, and any other household items that might be broken by one of Velvet's tantrums. They happened a lot, at least twice a week by his count, so he figured he might as well be prepared for them. I shouldn't of even asked y/n to come over, damn that was dumb of me. She probably wouldn't ever wanna hang out with me again if she saw... everything.
He had just finished putting everything away when he heard Velvet storm in.
"VENEER! WHERE THE FUCK HAVE YOU BEEN?!" She screeched.
"Um, w-with a f-friend?" He said nervously.
She walked closer to him, an "I wanna kill you" look on her face, Veneer backed into the counter as she got closer and closer until she was right in his face.
"A friend? Veneer. Wow, now that's a terrible lie. Who the fuck would wanna be friends with you? The shadow behind the star. You're nothing but my servant, you hear? So I don't ever wanna hear that dumb excuse ever again. Is that clear?" Velvet's cold to the bone voice hissed like a venomous snake about to strike.
"Y-yes." He said.
"Good." Velvet turned and walked out of the room. Veneer fell to the floor, his fear of his sister draining all his energy. He buried his face in his hands as he felt the urge to sob. He just barely managed to stand up and walk upstairs to his bedroom where he layed down and cried himself to sleep.
Who else is ready to cry? Because I can feel the tears. I thought it would be interesting to see a glimpse of Veneer's life since it plays an important part in the story.
