Harper

As soon as the Joker closed the door to my new room I collapsed onto the floor and started crying. My life is crumbling all around and now I am kidnapped by a homicidal maniac who seems to be very interested in me. When he touched me in the elevator I wanted to hit him but I knew that that would be a very bad idea.

After a few minutes of crying, I picked myself up wiped my face, and took a deep breath. Now that I was looking around I saw that the room wasn't too bad. Across from the door was a couch, coffee table, and TV. To the right of that was a small table and chairs and a small kitchen area. I get up and start walking around and see a door that leads to a small bedroom with a queen bed and a dresser with a bathroom attached.

It's nice actually. Clean and almost homely. I walk into the bathroom and start letting down my hair from its bun. Having it up for so long is starting to give me a headache. Once it's down I sigh and head back to the bedroom. I open the drawers of the dresser. Empty.

As I'm closing the drawer I hear the door to the living room open. I froze scared that Joker was back already. I walk out of the bedroom slowly and see it's not Joker but one of his henchmen setting clothes and food on the coffee table. After he sets them down he turns and sees me standing in the doorway to the bedroom. He nods to me and says, "Boss will be by to see you soon." I nod scared to say anything, he leaves a few moments later.

I walk over to the table and pick up the clothes, it's a plain black teeshirt and gray sweatpants. Beats sleeping in my dress. I head back to the bedroom and close the door, if Joker is coming here there is no way in hell am I having him walk in on me changing. He already has some strange obsession with me there's no way I am letting him see me naked.

While I am finishing getting changed I do hear the door to my room open. Glad I changed in the bedroom, I think to myself. Walking over to the door to my room I let out a shaky breath and open the door. As I thought the Joker was standing in the living room staring at me as I enter the room. He looks me up and down and just says, "Comfortable?"

I just nod unmoving. Joker sighs and sits on the couch putting more room in between us. "Good I'm glad. Let's start simple, what's your name?

I look up at him for a second. He's terrifying and I feel like she is staring into my soul even from this distance. "Harper".

"Got a last name, Harper?"

"Wilson" I mumble.

He gives me a large smile, "Harper Wilson, what a beautiful name."

I shrug and look at the floor, "Thanks I guess".

While I am still looking at the floor I hear him get up and walk over to me. I'm too terrified to move so I just stand there like prey. As he gets close to me he puts his gloved hand under my chin and forces me to look at him, "You overall are very beautiful Harper Wilson."

I look him in the eyes and suddenly get a burst of confidence, "why are you doing this?"

His eyes dart to my mouth for a moment before returning to my eyes, "Because for some unexplainable reason, I am utterly smitten with you and as soon as I laid my eyes on you I knew you were mine." I feel the blood drain from my face at that statement. He smiles and pats my cheek, "Now Harper may I ask what you were doing at the event tonight? Doesn't seem like your kind of scene."

I pull back from his touch, "I'm uh Bruce Wayne's personal assistant. I was there for my job and as his date."

He seems surprised at that, "are you and the illustrious Mr. Bruce Wayne actually dating or just a for-show thing."

"Just for show, I go with him when he can't find a date or doesn't have the time to find one. I haven't dated anyone in a long time." I reach up and touch my necklace like I do anytime I talk about Jack.

"Oh? And what happened to your last boyfriend?" Joker asks with a raised eyebrow.

"He died," I whisper. He nods and looks down to my necklace clearly putting two and two together.

Joker's voice drops to a low sultry whisper, "And how did he die?"

I shrug and look away, "I never found out they never found his body but found plenty of evidence that he died." He nods softly and runs his hand on my cheek again before turning to walk away.

"Rest up Harper, I'll see you tomorrow." After speaking he promptly leaves the hotel room. I take in a deep breath and look towards my bed. I am exhausted and I really should sleep but my brain is running at a thousand miles an hour. A moment of standing there gives me the motivation to turn off the lights and walk to bed. It is surprisingly soft so I get comfortable and start running my finger over the pendant on my necklace. I softly mutter to myself, "Why does he remind me so much of you my love?"
