*bzzzzz* *bzzz* *bzzzz*

"fuckin hell" I whisper under my breath. I reach my hand out to grab my phone and answer it.

" Jacob?" I ask.

" get ready dipshit, I'ma be at yours in 10, speed it up donkey!" he yells into my ear. not yelling but you get my point. I just fuckin woke up for god's sake.

"fuck you" I tell him before hanging up the phone.

"day one.....yaayy" I say in a monotonous tone as I sit up right, trying to get out of my sleepy haze.

I finally get off my bed and head staright for the shower, I wash my hair and almost freak at it's miniature size.

"oh right, Jacob cut it last night" I say as I look in the mirror that faced my shower. " doesn't look bad" he really did a good job.

finally done showering I get dressed and brush my teeth as I do so. I put on my cream shorts and black tee my mom got me from her trip in Nasville. I top everything off with my silver cross chain and black Jordans, socks already on.

I check myself out on the mirror against the bathroom wall next to it's entrance. " not bad either".

I finally pack my bag with my 2 pencils, 1 pen, 3 empty notebooks and lastly a half broken eraser. put on my headsets connected to my phone. leave my room phone in hand and vibing to some Shiloh dynasty.

"moms gone" I think to myself, she must be at work already.

there's a bagel on the dining table. she must have left it for me. amen for mother's.

I grab the bagel and get my keys from the hall counter, just as I exit my house Jacob pulls in.

"Get the fuck in dipshit!!" he yells after honking at me like I'm some rodant.

I jump in and we're gone, headed for lions den high.

The alarm clock was ringing, but I didn't care. I just wanted to sleep for a few more minutes. Maybe hours. Maybe days. I was so tired of everything.

But then my phone started buzzing, and I knew it was him. My best friend, Leo. The only person who could make me get out of bed.

"Hey, man, wake up!" he shouted through the phone. "It's your first day at Lions Den High! You don't want to be late, do you?"

I groaned and checked the time. It was 7:30 a.m. I had half an hour to get ready.

"Fine, fine, I'm up," I said, rubbing my eyes. "Where are you?"

"I'm outside your house, dude. Hurry up and get dressed. I'll wait for you in the car."

I hung up the phone and dragged myself to the bathroom. I took a quick shower, brushed my teeth, and combed my hair. I looked at myself in the mirror. I was 18 years old, but I felt like I had lived a hundred lifetimes. I had moved around so much, changing schools, making and losing friends, never feeling like I belonged anywhere. I was always the new kid, the outsider, the loner.

But not this time. This time, I had Leo. He was my childhood friend, my brother from another mother, my partner in crime. We had grown up together in a small town, until our parents decided to move to the big city. He had transferred to Lions Den High a year ago, and he had been telling me how awesome it was. He said it was the best school in the city, with the coolest teachers, the hottest girls, and the most fun activities. He said he had made a lot of friends there, and that they were all waiting to meet me.

He said I would love it there.

I hoped he was right.

I put on some jeans and a hoodie, grabbed my backpack, and headed downstairs. I saw a note from my mom on the kitchen table. She had left for work early, as usual. She was a nurse.

Jake stepped out of his house, rubbing his eyes and yawning. He was not looking forward to his first day at a new school. He had moved to this town a week ago, and he didn't know anyone except his best friend Leo, who had convinced him to transfer.

"Hey, sleepyhead!" Leo shouted from across the street. Jake looked up and saw Leo sitting in a shiny red convertible, grinning from ear to ear. "You look like shit....nothing new I guess"

Jake rolled his eyes and walked towards the car. "You know I'm not a morning person, Leo. How did you get this thing anyway?"

Leo revved the engine and winked. "I bought it with the money I saved from working at my uncle's pizza place. He's rich, you know. He owns half the town. Come on, hop in. I'll give you a ride to school."

Jake got in the car and buckled his seat belt. Leo sped off, leaving a trail of dust behind them. "You're gonna love this school, Jake. It's got everything you could ever want. Fun activities, cool classes, awesome people, and maybe even a hot date or two."

Jake scoffed and punched Leo in the arm. "Shut up, Leo. You know I'm not interested in dating right now. I just want to focus on my studies and make some friends."

Leo laughed and turned up the radio. "Whatever you say, buddy. But trust me, you'll change your mind when you see the girls at this school. They're all over me, you know."

Jake shook his head and smiled. He knew Leo was exaggerating, but he also knew that Leo was a good friend who wanted him to be happy. Maybe this new school wouldn't be so bad after all.
