JENNIE
Jennie was trying so hard not to yawn as she listened to what her date was saying.
Yes, date.
Jennie was dating different men, almost every other week. This was the sixth guy she dated for the last three months. Between her finishing her MBA and the pile of work in the office, she still had to painfully attend dates to meet men.
Her father has been asking her to settle down for years. Since Jennie continuously avoided having any kind of romantic relationship, her father and grandmother were taking the matters into their own hands.
She'd been arranged to meet multiple bachelors that her grandmother's matchmaker presented to them. Yes. At this time and age, there were still freaking matchmakers. The Kims were a well-off family. Her father was one of the top executives of a multinational company, and her late mother was also from an affluent clan. Her father only has one brother, and her mother was an only child thus getting the younger generation of Kims get married and have children were important and prioritized in the Kim family.
If only they knew; Jennie was already involved with someone for the last few years.
Jennie's grandmother wanted to see her get married and have children before she's gone. Her father wanted somebody who will take care of his precious daughter.
Most of her life, everything was set up for her. Her father gave her everything. He was busy but always finding time to spend with Jennie. How can she broke his heart and tell him she's... involved with another woman? His father will be crushed and she can't do that to him.
She was trying to have her eyes remain open while, Jerin or was it Jurin? was still talking when she felt her phone vibrate. She wasn't planning to check it, it would be impolite, but it kept vibrating every few minutes she excused herself to check if it was urgent. It was five messages from her cousin Jisoo.
Chichu: Cous, how was the date, bored yet?
Chichu: Ditch the guy and join us, we're gonna go clubbing. We're still here at the hotel waiting for Chaeng and guess who's playing at The Lounge? Our famous Lisa!
Chichu: Lisa's set is done, am gonna go say hi. Aren't you coming here?
Chichu: Wasn't able to talk to Lisa, but saw her at the VIP lounge. She is talking to a guy, looks like she's having a date, too.
Chichu: Chaeng's here, we're heading to another club. Text me if you're gonna follow, k?
Jennie had to blink a couple of times, and blinked hard; for her eyes suddenly have a somewhat red tinge on it.
Her eyes laser focused on the fourth message Jisoo sent her:
She is talking to a guy, looks like she's having a date, too.She knew what she's feeling was irrational and hypocritical, here she was, literally having a date with a guy yet she felt betrayed that Lisa was doing the same thing. All she knew was she needed to get out of there, fast.
"I'm very sorry, but I really need to go." She said to her date, who was surprised, as he didn't really stop talking earlier and was now quite confused that Jennie was leaving, he just nodded.
She was supposed to let Lisa go. For three months, she tried really hard and let her be. She decided to go cold turkey, no phone calls, no messages. She focused on her work, the business grad school and a couple of times even tried to get herself interested with the guys she was obligated to date.
Nothing really worked. She kept missing the singer. She's really on the edge of her limit, not only once she was tempted to go see Lisa again but she knew she really needed to stop the cycle.
