As the strains of "Don't Look Back in Anger" by Oasis filled the dimly lit pub, Sarah felt a tug at her heartstrings. Memories flooded her mind, transporting her back to a time when life seemed simpler, carefree even. She leaned against the worn wooden bar, her fingers tracing the rim of her glass as she lost herself in the music.
It was a song she hadn't heard in years, but its melody was etched into her soul. And standing on the small stage, bathed in the glow of the spotlight, was the one person who had introduced her to it all those years ago - her best friend, Liam.
She remembered the countless afternoons spent in his cramped bedroom, guitars in hand, as they strummed away their worries. He had been her confidant, her rock, her everything. But somewhere along the way, their friendship had blurred the lines of something more, something she had been too afraid to acknowledge.
As Liam's voice soared through the air, Sarah's heart ached with regret. Regret for the words left unspoken, for the chances not taken, for the distance that had grown between them. She had let fear hold her back, let the uncertainty of their future cloud her judgment.
But as the final chords faded into the night, Sarah made a silent vow to herself. She wouldn't let fear dictate her happiness any longer. With a newfound determination, she pushed herself away from the bar and made her way to the stage, her heart pounding in her chest.
As Liam stepped down from the stage, she reached out and took his hand, her voice barely above a whisper. "I never told you how much you mean to me," she confessed, her eyes searching his for any sign of understanding. "But I'm done living with regrets. I love you, Liam. I always have."
For a moment, the world stood still as Liam's gaze met hers, a mix of surprise and longing in his eyes. And then, without a word, he pulled her into his arms, the weight of years of unspoken feelings lifting off their shoulders.
As they swayed to the music, surrounded by the warmth of the pub and the love in their hearts, Sarah knew that this was just the beginning of their journey together. And as the night stretched on, she made a silent promise to herself - to never look back in anger.
