The long summer filled with drunkenness, pool parties and fancy fruits was over. I got out of bed. Walked to my closet, while I thought of what attire I would wear. I landed on a white summer top that my friends imposed i should buy, during one of our many shopping trips. I couldn't really afford the top considering my mom hadn't gotten paid yet, but they persisted that we all would get matching tops, I eventually convinced my mom to give me three monthly allowance in advance. Me and my friends had to be presentable, we couldn't just turn up to school in a pair of dirty sweats!? I was jealous of the people who didn't put any effort into their looks. Stacy is the most put together person I know, and she inspires the rest of our friend group to be the same. Clean makeup and fixed hair. I met Stacy when her family moved to Waltham in fifth grade. Her dad was some kind of business man, and her mother stayed at home with Stacy's younger siblings. I didn't have any close friends before we met. Stacy made me feel like I fit in for once. The teasing at school stopped when she came, no one dared to tease me if I was with her. She was quite outspoken, with long blonde hair, and a symmetrical face. Jordan and Tiffany joined our friend group in the sixth grade. We became inseparable. In our freshman year, we all joined the cheer squad, went to home alone parties and dated boys. Tiffany, Jordan and Stacy were all much more alike than me. They came from the same extravagant background with them all living in big white mansions, and their parents affording to buy their groceries at places like Erewhon while my mom shopped at Walmart. I envied them but they never made me feel bad about it. My mom was skeptical when they first visited. But she was mostly relieved that her friendless daughter actually managed to find friends. She got used to them, even though she still refers to their parents as "Materialists". My mom was a full on hippie back in the day. She still kind of is, she's always preaching messages about love and kindness. I love her but it can get a little too much . It's just her and I. We live in this small semi crappy house, in this semi crappy neighborhood. My dad used to live with us, but he left a couple years ago. He apparently had to take care of this other family. My mom wasn't too heartbroken about it, but she had to work at the hospital lot. During that period I hardly saw my mom without a pair of nurse scrubs.

When I finished getting ready I quickly walked down stairs, my mom had already left for work. Tiffany soon pulled up in her range rover, Stacy in the front seat and Jordan in the back. She honked signaling that they were outside. "Jayme!" Stacy yelled as I ran towards the car. "Hey cutie" Jordan and Tiffany almost grinned simultaneously. I soon placed myself besides Jordan in the fancy white car.  "I'm so excited, everyone says that Junior year is the best" Jordan excitedly spoke. "Girls this is definitely going to be our year." Tiffany continued while steering the wheel. Tiffany was a newly licensed driver and to be quite frank her driving scared the shit out of me. "New year, new boy." "Who are we girl coding this year girls." Stacy smiled looking towards me and Jordan in the back seats. "Aaron!" Jordan yelled. "Jordan you are so out of his league, he seems like such a douche" I replied. "Jayme, seriously, you think every boy is douchey." "There must be somebody that you like?" Tiffany voiced. I shrugged, "Not really, None of the boys at our school is my type I guess." "Don't worry Jayme we will make it this year's mission to find you the perfect guy" Jordan added. Jordan and Stacy were neighbors. They both lived in identically flawless mansions. Jordan had long curly brown hair, was quite short, and the word "ditsy" was used to describe her a lot.

We arrived at our high school, and Tiffany parked the car. "Girls remember, it's always our year." I said as we confidently walked into the school corridors. Waltham is a small town, most of us have known each other since childhood. Therefore it's sad to see how geeky and weird old friends had become. They really didn't care about letting themselves go, I thought. We continued down the corridors, greeting some of the other cheer girls, and the football guys. "We'll meet at lunch?" Tiffany asked us as the bell rang, knowing none of had the same first period. "You know it"  Stacy smirked as she walked off. The rest of us went to each of our classes.
