Cro's ParagraphI had arrived at the location before anyone else, the house was empty. There were chairs set out for people to sit down, I chose the chair that was in the back. I didn't really like to be around people, I liked to read books. That is why I was here. In the living room there was a big comfy looking couch, it was light brown with floral patterns on it. I noticed a coffee table and on the table was the book everyone was supposed to read, I noticed there was a movie adaptation of said book. I wondered how many people had cheated and just watched the movie.
There was some movement in another room and it caught my attention, could this be the host bringing out snacks and drinks? I looked towards where I had heard the movement and I noticed two shadows dancing on the wall. The room looked like a kitchen and it looked like the shadows were talking to one another. I couldn't really make it out, maybe i should just sit here and mind my own business. Now I could hear some footsteps but I didn't see anyone coming towards me nor did I hear a door open either. That was strange, I looked up and it sounded like it came from the second floor.
The book is laying on my lap, I swear I could hear voices coming from somewhere. I looked down at the book which was closed. I blinked, could the book be talking to me? I shook my head. No, that sounded crazy. It even sounded crazy in my head. There was no way I was going to say that out loud. I just needed to wait for the other members of the book club to show up.
Paul Victor's Paragraph
While I waited, I began noting down questions I would ask during question time. We've only read 3 chapters so far out of 69 in total. I know... it's a really odd number. While I got too invested in scribbling down questions since I was the first one who had arrived and all, I hear the front door open, Martha and Tony were exchanging pleasantries and I scoffed because I know there was at least some bars minimum of sexual tension between those two but who am I to say anything anyway.
"Hey Mattew," Martha called out as she stepped through the door in our meeting room - I'd like to think this is a room that was built but Martha and her husband had no idea of what to do with it because there are up to 6 rooms in this house if not a little more. Perks of being rich I guess.
"I had no idea you're here already," Martha laughs and Tony gives me a handshake before taking a seat.
"Oh you know... I'd like to get settled and get started on things," I replied with a little smile.
"Ah yes indeed. This book tho I would say... we're 3 chapters in and it's been- oops, I better leave that till the others arrive," She laughs as she places her book on her chair alongside her jotter too.
A faint ding sound could be heard and I looked at Tony who only shrugged in response. Martha seems to be lost in her own world of making sure everything in the room looks perfect to perceive the smell of freshly baked cookies.
"Did you leave something in the oven?" Tony asks.
Martha turns to look at us for a brief moment before realization hits her and she rushes to the kitchen but not before saying, "One moment gentlemen".
"Did you read past chapter 3?" Tony asks me.
"No, but I'll admit I was tempted to," I replied truthfully. Leon Humphrey is a really good writer and his latest book which we're currently reading is a masterpiece.
Tony opens his mouth to speak but there's another knock on the door and Martha asks us for assistance. Tony goes to open the door and the rest of the book club members arrive and we get settled down and begin discussion. The baked cookies are placed on a little center table and everyone would occasionally stretch forth their hands to collect one or two.
