Unik remembers the effect Geto Suguru's betrayal had on Gojo. His best friend's sudden transformation into a curse user, a sorcerer who used their techniques for evil, was a shock to Gojo who based his moral compass and emotional support on Geto. On the bright side, Geto's betrayal sparked something in Gojo, catapulting him into saving Megumi Fushigiro and his step-sister Tskumi from being adopted by the Zenin Clan who wanted Fushigiro and his inherited technique, the 10 shadows. Fushigiro, Tskumi and Unik got along swimmingly...kind of. Fushigiro was always tired of Unik's shenanigans. "Like brother like sister," he would say as he watched Tskumi laugh along with Unik and Gojo after doing something stupid like jumping into freezing rivers, climbing rooftops or catching small curses Unik deemed 'cute.' "Look" she would scream as she moulded the ground into traps for odd-looking blobs and creatures with human-like faces.

Then one day...without warning...Unik went missing. Fushigiro remembered the sudden shock of emptiness that plagued him when Gojo grimly shuffled up to him and his sister. "She's been taken." He said, and that was it. Then years later when he was about 15, Unik reappeared and though Fushigro was happy to see her again, he noted the bitterness Unik harboured against her brother. What was going through Gojo's head as he held Unik close and smiled widely was a mystery to him.

...

"Where is she?!" Gojo was eighteen years old when Unik was suddenly taken. He had just woken up from some much-needed sleep after the difficult mission he was sent out on the day before. When he went to wake up his sister though, he saw that her room was empty and clear signs of struggle had occurred. At this moment, he wished he had trained harder to use his six-eyes. Gojo knew that Unik's disappearance was the clan leader's doing, he was the main elder who constantly shamed Unik for having cursed blood, making her cover her purple eye and went as far as to assign dangerous exercises for her, disguised as 'attempts to make her stronger.' Many clan members agreed with the elder but because Gojo was always with Unik, it became difficult for them to get in on the action of bullying the 5-year-old. The wrinkled old man looked at Gojo through the steam of his tea. "Gone."

"Where!?" Demands Gojo, "Tell me before I rip you a new asshole baldy!"

"Would you really?" Tests the elder, "if I remember correctly, Fushigiro and Tsukiumi are still here so losing one of your precious children shouldn't be a huge problem right?"

Gojo gritted his teeth at the blatant threat the elder was giving. Though Fushiguro had his inherited technique, he is still young and would not be strong enough to protect himself and his sister. The elder watched Gojo's reaction, filled with pride that he could control such a powerful young man. "If anything Gojo, what do you think happened to her? I'm surprised you didn't notice her disappearance sooner if anything."

...

Huddled on the floor in a cell below the oldest building and on the outskirts of Gojo-clan's property, Unik was blindfolded and tied with her hands behind her back in a room full of talismans that prevented her from using her technique. Cold and afraid she lay on the filthy floor hoping her brother would come for her soon.
