3..2...1.... The gong sounds. I immediately sprint towards a bow, some arrows, and a quiver that I'd been eyeing for the whole countdown. Luckily, I managed to reach it before anyone else could. The best idea would've been to run into the forest immediately, but I turned back for a second, my eyes searching for two people in particular. As I look around frantically while still trying to make sure no one has their eye on me. I actually let out a gasp when I see Shane strangling someone with the strap of a backpack. It was his boyfriend, no doubt, and he throws him on the ground before bolting into the forest. I stare at the motionless body for a second, petrified, but look up to see him. James, who's almost unrecognizable because his face is completely makeup-free. I break eye contact with him and spot a white bag on the ground, hidden in a bush. I gesture towards it. James looks confused for a second but quickly understands, nodding in approval before running into the foliage. I quickly follow after him before anyone can get to me. I only hear one cannon shot during the entire bloodbath, meaning only one person died, who had to be Shane's boyfriend. I'm not surprised, though. No one wants to kill anyone, but it's either going to have to be us or the Capitol that does that. Then, something pops into my mind. I have to find Ethan. I decide to travel to higher grounds in search for him. We'd made a promise to stick together for as long as we could, and I'm not about to break that promise. As for James and Emma, we'd find them, eventually. I spend the day travelling uphill and collecting fruit that I know isn't poisonous, nearly eating a fatal deathberry along the way. As the sun sets and I settle down for the night, with no luck finding Ethan, one name spreads across the sky. Ryland Adams of District 10. I gather a bunch of leaves and attempt to camouflage myself into the ground, but it clearly doesn't work since I hear "Hello?" I bolt upwards. "Ethan?" But it isn't. "No. It's Tana." She steps out from behind a tree. "What makes you think I'm not going to strangle you?" I murmur, attempting to look up at her in the most menacing way possible. "You wouldn't do that, and I wouldn't either. This whole thing is just messed up and you can't disagree with me," she responds, taking another step forwards. I wince. Tana should not be saying anything bad about the Capitol. They're watching her right now and could blow her up at any moment. "You're pulling a straw, here," I whispered. Tana sighed. "Look, just have a talk with me, okay? I just want to speak with someone before I die. Recap on my past for a while. You can kill me after if you want." I grunted. "Okay. I'm not gonna kill you, though." She sat down, nodding gratefully. "I remember when I started YouTube. I was depressed and lonely, like most people who started a YouTube channel. I wanted to connect with others. Little did I know that joining this little community where you make videos and post them online was going to be the cause of my death." She giggled, but her face turned stern quickly. "Yeah," I responded, sitting up. "Ethan and I actually joined YouTube because we were dared to. We thought the end of vine was going to be the end of our few days of fame, but it grew on us and before we knew it, we had millions of subscribers, we were selling merch, and thousands of people payed to see us in real life." Tana looked up at the night sky. "They're watching right now." I look up at the stars too. "Whoever's watching right now, don't give up," Tana said. "Live while it lasts."

I stretch, my body quivering. It's cold. In fact, when I roll over, I sink into the ground. Snow. It snowed overnight. I look around, and Tana is sitting next to me, carving shapes into the snow. I sigh. I can't entirely remember what happened last night, but I do know that what Tana had said was completely against the Capitol. "You're awake. We need food," Tana said, looking down at me. "Let's go ice fishing," she adding with a smile. A smile? She's smiling. I'm not. I need to find Ethan before it's too late. I need to say goodbye, at least, and I have something to say to Emma and James, too. But Tana is right. We both need food, especially in this weather. My feet are soaking wet and I cringe as I stand up. "Fine, but.. Tana, I think we should split apart after." She looks quite defeated for a bit, then nods. "Okay, I agree, but I know where a lake is. Follow me." I do as she says and follow her. We reach a lake and no one is there. The lake is frozen over. Tana digs through the snow and pulls out a fishing rod. "Fuck. It's frozen solid," she sighs. Then she holds it out to me. "You're buff. Do you thing you can break the ice around it?" I shrugged. "I'll try." I tug the handle hard and the ice snaps. Tana smiles. "Great job. How about I'll give you half of whatever I find if you break a hole in the ice for me?" I shiver again. "Tana, I don't know about this." She raises her eyebrows. "Or you can walk off and starve to death in a patch of snow?" I stare at her. Or I can kill you. "Fine. I'll do it." The ice isn't super thick. I brush the snow off of an area of the ice and stomp onto it as hard as I can. I continue for a few minutes until I hear a crack. I stomp on the ice one more time and step back. A chunk of the ice breaks and falls into the freezing water. I look back at Tana. "Alright. Happy?" She smiles, but her smile quickly turns into a different expression. I'm trying to read her expression. She begins to stutter, from the cold, I'm guessing. "Come on, Tana. I'm starving he..." my voice fades out as Tana points to directly underneath me. The ice under me is cracking immensely. Any more pressure and the ice will collapse. There was no way out of this. My mouth quivered. "Please, find Ethan and James and Emma and tell them I love them. Tell them that I love them so much and no matter what happens, I'll alway-" the ice collapses. Tana screams really loud. I plunge into the cold water, attempting to grip onto something, but I was swept under the ice. This was the end. The last thing I heard was a cannon shot before a shiver shot through me.
