"Did you see it? My god. Everyone's moved on and they're still stuck there," Sab said, frustrated.
"Journalists," Gabriel replied calmly. "Don't worry about it."
"No, because why would they even bring that up? Like... girl, it's almost like they were trying to hint that I cheated."
Gabriel gently took her hand. "I know you didn't. We know you didn't. And so do our friends, our families. So screw them."
"I can't just brush it off like that," she sighed.
Gabriel gave her a soft smile. "Okay. I'll handle it. Come here."
She looked at him and leaned her head on his shoulder. He kissed her forehead just as her phone began to ring.
Gabriel glanced at the screen and chuckled. "They saw it."
Sab let out a small laugh and nodded, then answered the call.
"Girl! Whoever those journalists are, I swear—" Mandy's voice burst through the speaker.
"I know! The whole piece was cute but then the way they brought up the past—ugh!" Austin added.
"People have moved on. That headline didn't need to go there," Emily chimed in.
Gabriel stood up with a grin. "I'll leave you with your squad."
Sab laughed softly and shook her head as her friends continued venting through the phone.
