When Ice Melts Fire

Kaeya turned to leave, but before he stepped out of the tavern, he locked a flirty stare on Diluc before muttering, "I'll be seeing you later~"

"You little-"
He left before Diluc could curse him. He pinched the top of his nose, eyebrows furrowing in annoyance. Just then, a guest entered. It seemed to be a foreign traveler, since his clothes were not from here, mainly yellow and grey, a braid hanging behind him. A small child dressed in white and light coral floated beside, and they were chatting heartily. Diluc composed himself, and greeted the customers, "Hello traveler, would you like a drink?"

"Yes, I would like one."

"Which?"

"Uhhh... I heard from a tall guy in Liyue that Osmanthus Wine is delicious, can I try some?"

"Of course."

Diluc poured a small glass of the wine, giving it to the traveler. "Is it good?" Diluc asked.

"Yes, It tastes... unique."

"I'm glad you enjoyed it, would you like some more?"
"I'll have dandelion wine instead, thank you."

Diluc smirked at this, proud that a foreign traveler knew of his wine. He happily poured the glass, relishing the familiar scent of his prized product wafting in the air. He served the glass to the traveler, the other child distracted with the food being served on the other, restaurant side of the establishment. Diluc then grabbed some glasses from the dishwasher and began drying them, before the traveler's voice interrupted his thoughts.

"This is good wine. Fresh, tasty... I like it. Where do you get this?"

This caught Diluc by surprise, before he smiled.

"My vineyards, of course."

It was the traveler's turn to be surprised.

"Wait, your vineyards?"

"Yes. I am the one that makes this wine."

"You're very talented. What's your name?"

"I'm Diluc. Diluc Ragnvindr."

The traveler's eyes flung open in surprise.

"Diluc?!? The Diluc? Diluc Ragnvindr the master wine maker?!?"

Diluc, in reply, put on a surprised expression and raised his eyebrow.

"You know of me?"

"Yes! You're famous!"

"Famous...?"

"Everyone loves your stuff, especially the dandelion wine!"

Diluc was touched, and a large smile blossomed on his face.

"Thank you. I'm flattered. And what might your name be, traveler?"

"I'm Aether, and that over there is Paimon."

He gestured to the small child which was now passed out, 5 empty Sticky Honey Roast plates littering the table her feeble body was sprawled upon.

"She must enjoy food." Diluc replied, a small hint of amusement in his words.

"She does. A lot. She eats herself silly."
Diluc allowed himself a light chuckle. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Aether."

"You too, Diluc."
They talked a bit more, before a disgustingly familiar voice shattered the warm ambience, ruining Diluc's mood and souring his expression.

The familiar, tanned figure draped in blue, a patch sitting over his left eye, a fur cape clipped on.

"Hey, why aren't you at ho-"

Kaeya was cut short as he saw Diluc conversing with a foreign traveler.

"Who is that? WHO IS THAT, DILUC?"

An aggressive and jealous gaze hit Aether like a thunderbolt. Kaeya marched up to Aether, furious that he had managed to strike up a conversation with the man he was attracted to. Aether attempted to ease the situation.

"Hey, uhh, Kaeya, what's wrong?"

"Get away from him. NOW."

Aether looked frightened, and decided to leave the establishment, going over to Paimon and picking her up before he did so. Diluc looked at him incredulously, beginning to question him.

"Kaeya! What the hell?"

Kaeya turned to look at Diluc, his gaze slightly annoyed.
"Why were you talking to him so well?"
"...Because... we struck up a conversation."
Kaeya looked away his gaze slightly sad and offended.
"...You never talk like that with me..."
Diluc's mouth and eyes opened slightly, his mood annoyed but sympathetic within, however a split second later he masked this expression with a gaze of ice, controverting his scarlet eyes.

"Of course I don't. And you know exactly why."
