"Grumpy people are like puzzles – they may take some work to figure out, but once you do, they can be quite rewarding."
⋆☆⋆Reyana woke early the next morning. Although she could tell it was daylight, she kept her eyes shut tight.
"It was a dream, she told herself firmly. "I dreamed about last night. When I wake up I will be perfectly fine. He'll still be there."
Then she opened her eyes and sure enough, she woke up in the hotel room she had been staying in for the past two weeks. With a pounding heart Reyana Black woke up and sat in her bed. She didn't dare move in the fear that what had happened was not a dream but the truth. There was silence. Finally deciding to get out of the bed she scrambled to her feet, so happy she felt as though a large balloon was swelling inside her. It had been a dream after all.
But the moment she took a step forward she froze. There was something lying at her feet. Taking a deep breath, she looked at her feet and let out a strangled scream.
There it was lying at her feet that one thing she had been dreading. A gun laid there, slightly bloody from being thrown in the face of her attackers. Falling to her knees she let out heart wrenching sobs. Her whole body rattled as she thought what it meant. Last night had been very real. And this meant that they had gotten him. Most probably they had.
Probably the word meant hope. Hope that he might've made it. Hope that he was still here. Hope that she was wrong.
So, she did that one thing she needed to do.
Reyana picked up the gun and slowly adjusted it in her hand, turning the safety off she walked towards the door of her motel room and peeked outside. Silence. That's all that greeted her. Slowly making her way towards the door opposite to her she bent down and started to pick the lock. Hearing the satisfying click she got up. Brushing the short strands of black hair from her face she slowly and with precaution turned the handle. Once the door was open, she pushed the door with her foot. There was a creaking sound at which she winced. It will warn the person inside. Raising the gun, she entered quickly. But she froze and her blood went cold.
