We ducked into an alley behind some houses, finally being able to catch our breath, which didn't seem to be an issue for Isla. She looked like she could've kept running for hours.

"Ok..." Lizzie said. "I think we're safe for now."

I couldn't stop all the questions I had from pouring out my mouth.

"Ok, who are you guys? What are you guys? How did you guys do what you did? Where were we? Who am I? How did I do that?"

Isla laughed. "Calm down, Ella, it's ok...we'll explain everything from the beginning. Our beginning."

"One stormy night on October 31st...3 triplets were born straight from hell- "Kayla begun dramatically.

Lizzie covered her mouth and rolled her eyes as if Kayla had done this before.

"Maybe it's better if I just explain." Isla begun. "Yes, one stormy night on October 31st, 3 triplets were born. Us. Not straight from hell, however." She glared at Kayla. I could tell this was a reoccurring experience.

She continued. "We were born with these eyes, one blue and the other black. Our parents tried to hide it from people they best they could. But scientists from Atlas Laboratory found us and took us away."

Lizzie butted in. "Atas laboratory being the place we were just at. The place you were imprisoned in for nearly 11 years!" She sounded so cheerful telling me I grew up in a horrible, unethical, torturous lab most of my life.

"Yes, anyways." Isla continued. "They ran tests on us. Horrible ones. They discovered we have these...abilities." She handed me a small book from inside her pocket, I opened it and begun reading.

The book read:

LIZZIE HAYES – SUBJECT 1

- Telekinesis abilities

- Electricity control

- Mind reading

ISLA HAYES – SUBJECT 2

- Enhanced intelligence

- Extreme control over bodily functions

- Mind reading

KAYLA HAYES – SUBJECT 3

- Enhanced strength

- Extreme control over emotions

- Mind reading

ELLA ROYCE – SUBJECT 4

We have been testing the triplets' blood on subject 4 to conduct research on a chemical that can stop their mutant abilities. Worries about subject 4 gaining abilities just like the triplets.

- Potential enhanced strength

- Potential neuro-electrical control

I stared at the pages. The pieces of paper that pieced everything together.

"Lizzie...the speaker...telekinesis and electricity control?"

"Pretty cool, right?" She smiled.

More words spilled out my mouth.

"Isla... Enhanced intelligence and... 'extreme control over bodily functions'...?"

She could tell I was confused.

"I can control bodily functions; I made that security sweat all over his body to electrocute him. I never run out of breath while running, fighting, or just doing anything as I can control it all!"

I nodded, my eyes still wide and laser focused on the book.

"Kayla...super strength...well that explains a lot. Control over emotions? Is that why you never felt guilty about...um...you know. The security guards?"

"Yep! They used to call me a killing machine. Apparently, they feared I would become one."

"And me..." I kept reading. "Potential super strength would explain how I knocked down Dr Chamberlain so easily... and neuro-electrical control? What, did I fry her brain or something?"

"Very likely." Isla told me. "She was extremely shaken up, probably because you literally messed up her brain signals."

The world was spinning. What on Earth is going on?

"We have a theory that the abilities you get are related to ours. For example, the super strength is obviously from Kayla. We also think that the neuro-electrical stuff is from a mix of me and Isla." Lizzie begun. "I can control electricity, Kayla can control body stuff, including brain activity. A mix of that gives you the ability to mess with people's brain signals."

This really was not how I expected my life to go.

"So now what. We live life on the run, hiding from anyone and everyone?" I ask.

"Probably the safest bet." Isla admits.

"It'll be fun though!" Kayla laughs. She started running. "Come on guys! We're free! Act like it!"

Lizzie, Isla and I laugh and begin chasing after her. Maybe this life won't be so bad after all.
