Getting the message from Marina saying that she was back safely gave me some sense of relief but at the same time I don't get what had happened in the first place to where she was out in the storm. When I had gotten home early in the morning I had checked on her and saw that she was sound asleep in her bed but when I woke up she was nowhere to be found in the packhouse and my dad was in a shit mood. Made me wonder if they got into it, which is what caused her to be out when the storm hit but at the same time I knew that I wouldn't know until I had the chance to talk to her. Although for now that was having to wait since I was still discussing things with Clayton since he had come over per my request for us to try and see if both of us could make sense of the journal belonging to Marina's dad and come up with a plan of how to better deal with the rogues. Our attention was pulled from the journal as we sat in my room when we heard a knock on the door before Natalia opened it, came inside, and then closed it behind her."How is she?" I couldn't keep the worry and concern out of my voice as I spoke while watching Natalia walk over to me and Clayton.
"She's sleeping. Being out in the rain definitely took a toll on her on top of what happened with your dad this morning. Not to mention with the fact she is still recovering from being on the run for so long it's a miracle that Winter and her shifter healing is even keeping up." Natalia explained as she sat on the couch next to Clayton and across from the chair that I was sitting in.
"Honestly based on what we've been finding in this journal belonging to her dad it seems like things were really bad for her in a way once she left us. Asides from being away from us, it seems like her parents were keeping a lot from her. Including that the whole time that they were gone they were staying in contact with Alpha Damian despite having renounced the pack when they left." Clayton explained which caused me to lean back in my chair.
"Honestly this whole situation is turning into a mess. Marina suffering so much due to the actions of her parents is fucked up. Between having the mindlink with the pack renounced against her will, to being kept in the dark, being taken away, and then losing her mindlink with me after encountering the rogues, everything is becoming hard to make sense of. Especially the whole thing with the legend surrounding her mom's pack." I knew that there was likely pain in my voice since to this day the missing mindlink with Marina still caused me issues. Especially after I had learned from Adonis what the origin possibly was for it.
"Did you guys find anything concerning that legend in the journal? We know that Marina's wolf Winter is pure white, she has silver hair, she's faster during the full moon, and she was born during a rare full blue snow moon. All of us here who were close to her and formed the border patrol know that since we formed the patrol to originally go out and find her." Natalia said as she looked down at the journal on the table between the three of us.
"Sadly not much is in the notebook. Basically a lot of what we already know. Seems like anything that would have been helpful was never written down before her parents were killed. So now we have to try and see if any of the packs here in Crescent Peak have any records about Marina's mother's pack to help us figure out things." Clayton explained as he leaned back in his seat.
"I honestly don't know how much more info we're going to find. From what I know most of the packs here in Crescent Peak got rid of any records that they had for the Dawnguard Pack after their alpha and luna died which resulted in most of the pack being wiped out by opposing packs. Luana was the only surviving member of the pack and was the only one who would have been able to provide us with any kind of info that we could work with."
I knew that at this point we were at a dead end with trying to find any clues to help us figure out why Marina's parents took her away for sure and why the legend from the Dawnguard Pack seemed to play a big part in why they did so. Everything was becoming more complicated than it needed to be which was starting to irritate me beyond belief. After about another 20 minutes Clayton and Natalia left which left me by myself in my room to be alone for the time being with my thoughts. I was wanting to try and figure out some way to help Marina to where she wasn't so in the dark about why she was taken away and why the rogues are after her since so far nothing about it made any sense. I was honestly hoping that the library in the packhouse still had some kind of record about the Dawnguard Pack that we could find and use to find answers. However, I wasn't going to look into it without Marina since she had all the right to look into it with me.
