"I guess it's probably company business."
"Mm." She mustered up the courage to ask, "What about Jacob?"
His eyes cooled a few degrees. She was perfunctory when asking about him, but very concerned when asking about Jacob.
"From now on, don't have any contact with him."
Natalie immediately nodded. "It's impossible to collaborate again anyway. We've already disassociated."
He pinched her cheek.
"I'll let it go this time. If you dare to pull any more of this nonsense in the future..."
"Absolutely not!" Her gaze was firm.
"Do I need to handle the matter of us being photographed?"
He had been in meetings all morning. By the time the meetings ended, the online uproar had already died down, leaving only a screenshot of an inexplicable highly upvoted Twitter comment circulating in the company's internal group chat.
"No need." Natalie quickly refused. She could only give him the cold shoulder and wait to draw a clear line from him. There was no need for him to intervene in a matter that had already settled.
The corner of his mouth lifted slightly. He stroked the cheek he had pinched red. "I'm leaving."
Natalie obediently saw him to the door. When Sebastian left and the door closed, her smile faded.
They didn't have much of a future together. She had never overestimated her own importance and naturally wouldn't fantasize about being with him for a long time. This outcome was something she had been clear about from the first day she got together with him.
It was just that when she thought of his casual remark, "It's just a woman," her heart still ached with a dense, piercing pain. It turned out she also didn't want to be looked down upon, but she had no right to say these things.

Natalie officially joined the cast of "The Strategist" and a grand opening ceremony was held today.
This drama was a major female-centric story, mainly depicting the growth of a female general. The male lead was a prince vying for power and position, gradually ascending to the supreme emperor's throne.
The two were caught in the turbulent court politics, going from initially using and scheming against each other, to later appreciating each other's talents and cooperating, and finally to having differing political views and heading towards a split. It was a magnificent story full of twists and turns.
This was a subject rarely touched upon in the entertainment industry before. The first time Natalie read the script, she was drawn to the growth arc of the female general Avia Martinez.
Natalie's popularity had been extremely high recently. Just yesterday she was still deeply embroiled in scandal. As the saying goes, there's no such thing as bad publicity. This morning's opening ceremony was besieged by media from all sides without needing to buy publicity, directly pushing it to the top of the trending topics.
"Reporters have been arranged to come for interviews later. Prepare yourself first."
Natalie was getting her hair and makeup done. Upon hearing this, she looked up. "Did you give instructions?"
"Don't worry, I can still handle this small matter, right? I've instructed them. They can't ask about anything related to Sebastian."
Although Natalie and Sebastian's "romance" had been exposed, neither of them had publicly commented on it. They hadn't reached that stage.
Waiting a while before hinting at a breakup was the best way to handle it.
James clicked his tongue. "But speaking of which, it's quite strange. That time, you really stepped on his landmine. Yet he was still able to be with you and even invested 100 million into 'The Strategist' for you..."
This really wasn't Sebastian's style. He was a decisive man who never went back on his word and never gave a second chance to anyone who made a mistake.
"It wasn't for me. When he invested the money, I had already signed the contract. 'The Strategist' is a script worth investing in to begin with. It's a solid investment," Natalie corrected her.
James stroked his chin and narrowed his eyes. "Anyway, I feel something's off. Say, could Mr. Wellington be deeply in love?"
