Unik's captors untied her after a day or two. Barely fed she would spend most of the time crumpled on the floor but once in a while her body would lose the feeling of hunger and she would feel a surge of curse energy within her. Every time her body forgot hunger she would fight, she would find a way to break out, injure many and eventually kill. Over the course of one year that she was held captive, she fought and escaped her cell multiple times with each escape ending with a beating and having her cell decorated with even more talisman.
At the age of 6 Unik's ability to control her technique grew, the talisman around her room used to keep her curse energy low seemed to hinder her less and less. Upon her last attempt, she left a guard dead, splattered into a million blood stains, only to get outnumbered and thrown back into her cell. The difference with this attempt though, in place of a beating and the renovation of her cell, was a fatal blow in the stomach with the Split Soul Katana, a broad sword that can cut directly at the soul, a perfect weapon for a person with cursed blood. The clan leader was the one who came in to deal the final blow. He intended to finally rid the clan of Unik, the shameful blight born with enemy blood and a half-assed inherited technique. He thought throwing her into prison was 'mercy' since Unik was just a child, but it seems his 'mercy' has led to many others suffering. Unik remembered how the massive sword felt in her tiny body, she was too weak to fight off the clan leader having used all her energy to fight off the guards. A strong point of impact was felt as the sword entered her stomach then just intense heat before she started to feel cold. The horrid gurgling sound she made as blood pushed up into her esophagus still haunts her to this day. Then the leader roughly pulled out the sword and left Unik in her growing pool of purple blood.
"Disgusting" she heard him say as her body fought to keep her alive. Then silence. Shivering on the ground, Unik felt no pain but instead felt tingles all over her body as if it was trying to understand what had just happened. Scared of the pain that she would face when the adrenaline wore off, Unik lay there whimpering and hoping one last time for her brother. Only a few seconds of silence had passed when shouts could be heard somewhere in the decrepit building. A few more screams could be heard when silence once again fell, something was different though, this silence felt cold, like there was no living or breathing thing around Unik, is it just the blood loss?
"My, my...a real waste of talent no?" A crushing sense of hopelessness washed over Unik, distracting her body from the icy grip of blood loss, this voice was not her brother's. Her sight was beginning to blur, she wanted to give up. Strong arms suddenly reached down and cradled her. The warmth of this creep's arms was super welcoming. Looking up, Unik could vaguely make out the familiar eyes of Gojo's best friend, Geto Suguru, the man who did something so bad that he was shunned from Jujutsu society. Unik never fully understood what he did to become an outcast but she knew she had to get away from him.
"Miguel." A tall, toned, dark-skin, Kenyan man appears behind Geto. "It won't heal her fully, that's just the way she was born." explains Geto, "but I want you to at least stop the bleeding."
"No problem" grunts Miguel as he begins to work on Unik.
Unik looked up at Geto, still too weak to move, with her mind a blur she muttered "Not Gojo?"
Geto looked at her in amusement as she began slipping into unconsciousness, "No, but for the sake of my relationship with him, I will save you and you will help me."
That was the last thing Unik heard as her world faded to black.
...
Unik spent the next few years with Geto recovering and training. Geto encouraged Unik to be independent and to follow what she believed was the right path, giving her full freedom to explore the world. On occasion, Unik would go on missions with Geto like his recruitment meetings which are meant to find more sponsors for his group. Other times Unik would use the allowance Geto gives her to travel to different countries and learn about their histories, politics and perspectives on Cursed energy. Unik was also sent on optional solo missions, to find people who are struggling with curses in their life that were worth getting absorbed and used by Geto. Though Unik never really got to know the rest of Geto's "family" or fully understand Geto's plans for his group, she would happily help the man who saved her from death. Unik was in bliss, she finally had a caring family and every evening was spent with Geto and the two girls he saved from a small village, Nanako and Mimiko Hasaba. The three girls spent lots of time shopping and training together whenever Geto was off on his own mission. Sometimes Miguel would visit, having grown fond of Unik he began to take on a mentor's role, helping Unik train in how Kenyan sorcerers used curse energy. However, when Unik turned 13, she started to notice something about Geto's morals in the world that didn't sit right with her. After her recovery, Unik would find sponsors dead in the hallways of their hideout, often covered in Geto's curse residuals. Seeing these bodies strewn around is nothing new to Unik, but something has started bothering her, these are people we recruit as sponsors or to become a part of our family. Suda Manami, Geto's secretary, would often brush it off if Unik asked why Geto has been killing people, claiming that Geto would only shed blood for a good reason, that it was for the family.
It wasn't until she was about 14 years old when she found the body of a young man near the foot of Geto's meeting room door. The man looked so much like Megumi that she threw open Geto's door and stomped into his meeting room.
"What is this?" asks Unik, trying to steady her voice which was betraying her anger.
"Unik hello!" putting down his teacup, Geto stands from his seat, he walks over to Unik. "What do you mean?"
"There is a body of a young man outside...what happened?" demands Unik. Geto smiled and placed a hand on Unik's head, "you don't need to worry about him. He was a member who was caught giving information to those who wanted to destroy us. We can't have that if we want to create a better world" Geto removed his hand from Unik's head. For the past 8 years, Unik never thought to ask what Geto's intentions were with all the members, sponsors and curses he's been collecting...but the killing of family members and those who financially supported the group didn't sit right with Unik. There is a reason her brother and Jujutsu Society shunned him...but how does a child accept that the person who saved her from death, who gave her love and a family, is someone that she needs to avoid? Where would she go? Unik stood there, staring at the floor, clenching her jaw and balling her fists. Geto sighed "Something has been bothering you for a while...you grew up here seeing these dead bodies here but recently you have been asking Manami a lot of questions...I have always told you that you are free to explore your own path...it seems as though your path is becoming more and more different than mine."
"You gonna kill me because of that?" whispers Unik, forcing her gaze to match Geto's.
"I wouldn't have saved you only to kill you later. You have been nothing but loyal and I saved you out of respect for my past relationship with your brother." A moment of silence fell between both of them after Geto's response.
"Before I think about my next steps...Geto...please tell me what are your plans?" Unik watched a terrifying grin crawl across Geto's face.
"Excellent question Unik." Geto turned and sat back down at his seat, taking a long sip of tea before continuing. "I will declare war against Jujutsu Society. I will confront your brother and I will destroy all non-soccerors."
Unik stood there in shock, letting the information sink in from her ears to the pit of her gut. "Why...what did they do to deserve death?!"
"Hmmm...it's a long story...but for future generations of people to be safe, we must sacrifice those who are weak, who are just monkeys. We need to force evolution to grant curse techniques to all! The more of us there are the less curses there will be to roam the land! We will truly be the ones on top of the food chain! No longer will we watch our comrades die saving the ungrateful monkeys!"
Unik could do nothing but stare at Geto. She understood the cold logic behind this plan but she also knew that helping Geto this time would destroy her with guilt, because of the innocent lives she would need to end and because she would be going against her brother "I...I can't..." whispers Unik.
"Can't what?" asks Geto.
"I can't go against my brother...or spill the blood of innocent people." Geto frowned after hearing Unik's response. "...and yet" adds Unik, "I also can't kill you...I don't want to hurt you or this family.."
"Come here," says Geto, smiling a rather sad smile. Unik obeyed, walked over to where Geto sat and kneeled in front of him, resting her head on his lap.
Geto places his hand on Unik's head, running his fingers through her soft white hair. "I will say this" Geto's words travel across the room, "you are free to believe what you will and you are free to do what you will. I know you won't hurt this family and I will be proud of you no matter the path you choose...so what is it that you desire to do?"
