Hi everyone! Mia Celeste Sarzo here. It's been a while so I thought I would catch you up on what Rudy and I have been up to, including staying in touch with our band family from Whitesnake especially Mackenzie Rhoads Vandenberg with her husband Adrian.
So, as you can see, Rudy and I are going strong and are actually looking forward to celebrating our upcoming anniversary. As we sit down together brainstorming ideas for our anniversary, Rudy receives a message from David Coverdale regarding a possible 89-90 Whitesnake lineup reunion to take place on VH1's That Metal Show to be taped in Los Angeles. David explained to Rudy the reason for this possible reunion was due to he and Mackenzie being interviewed and recognized for their collaboration in a side project they did together. Rudy and I immediately agreed to travel to L.A. for this special event especially with Mackenzie being involved.
David: Hi Rudy, hope all is well. Mackenzie and I are appearing on That Metal Show next week and we talked about doing a special performance in the show with "Slip of the Tongue" lineup. Would you be interested in doing it?
Rudy: Absolutely! Let me know the details and which song we are performing.
David: Terrific! Once I receive the details, I will let you know what the plans will be.
Rudy and I arrive in Los Angeles early that morning to prepare for the taping of the show. As we arrive at the studio, we saw Mackenzie and Adrian as well as Steve, David, and Tommy. We were all asked to sit scattered amongst the crowd. Then out of the blue, I was asked to participate in one of the segments the show is very well known for..."Stump the Trunk" where I was to ask Eddie a question regarding one of Whitesnake's videos from the "Slip of the Tongue" album. As taping was about to begin, we all took our seats within the crowd and watched as David and Mackenzie did their interview with Eddie, Don, and Jim. After one of the commercial breaks, it was time for "Stump the Trunk" segment. I was actually the last one to ask Eddie his question. As I made my way towards Jim to ask my question and was asked to introduce myself, I was received with a thunderous applause from the crowd.
Jim: Hi, what's your name?
Mia: Mia Celeste Sarzo.
Jim: Alright, we've got the lead vocalist from Quiet Riot here and wife of legendary bassist of Quiet Riot and Whitesnske, Rudy Sarzo. What's your question for Eddie?
Mia: Alright, who was the mystery woman who appeared on Whitesnake's "Fool For Your Loving" music video?
Eddie: Tawny Kitaen.
Mia: Nope <she answers as the wrong buzzer goes off>
Eddie: What?! I don't know, who is it?
Mia: The one and only Mackenzie Rhoads Vandenberg
Towards the end of the show, with about seven minutes left in the taping session and the band was set on stage, Eddie introduced David along with the rest of the Whitesnake lineup ready to perform after making their way from the audience.
As David thanks Eddie for the introduction, David announces the performance that is about to take place is dedicated to Rudy and Mia as they get ready to celebrate their wedding anniversary over the upcoming weekend as they perform "The Deeper the Love". As the band is performing, I could not help but stand next to my husband with tears in my eyes still in awe that this amazing person is still in my life after all these years through thick and thin. As the song finishes, Rudy and I share a long kiss with a hug as a sign that our love will never fade.
After taping the show, we all agreed to meet up for dinner just to catch up on old times. Unbeknownst to us David, and Adrian along with Mackenzie had something up their sleeve for Saturday. Rudy and I still had no idea what to do for our anniversary, so we were just going to spend some quality time together. Before leaving the restaurant after dinner, David invites everyone to his house in Lake Tahoe saying that the jet will pick everyone up at 9 a.m. for a fun filled weekend as well as to take a set of clothes for a special night on the town. So, we all agreed to go. So, we all met up at the airport to fly out to Lake Tahoe and upon arrival we each settled into our own rooms. David asked everyone to freshen up for a special gathering to take place at six that evening. Before doing so, we enjoyed the sites where David's home was located and got some rest before getting ready. Rudy and I went ahead and showered to get ready for this "special event" to take place that evening. Rudy wore a black suit with a red shirt, and I wore a pearl long white dress with my diamond tear drop earrings that Rudy gave me as a gift on our wedding day. As we made our way to the part of the house where this event was to take place, Rudy and I were taken back when we saw the beautifully decorated dining room which was converted to accommodate this event. When we walked in, we saw our closest friends and family, as well as Mackenzie and Adrian on both sides of the isle. David asked Rudy to join the priest at the end of the isle. David graciously escorted me down the aisle to meet Rudy just as I did on our wedding day. As we joined hands, we were asked to renew our vows to one another.
Priest: Good evening everyone. We are gathered here today to witness Rudy and Mia renew their wedding vows. Mia go ahead.
Mia: My dearest Rudy, from the first day we met I knew I had met someone special. As we got to know each other, I could feel my love grow deeper for you with every passing day. From our first date to our first night together, you have been and are the love of my life. I am very blessed to have you in my life all these years and I look forward to so many more. I love you more than words can express. <As Mia concludes her vows, she lifts Rudy's left hand to place a kiss on his wedding ring as a sign of her undying love, faith, loyalty, and respect for Rudy.>
Rudy: Mia, from the first day I saw you I knew you were a very special lady. You brought laughter and joy to my life on our first date. The day I asked you to marry me, I was quite nervous as I could not believe how lucky I was to have you. The day of our wedding, you looked stunning and I knew this was forever. I thank God for bringing you into my life. Thank you for standing by me all this time. I look forward to spending the rest of our lives together. I love you with all my heart and soul. <As Rudy concludes his vows to Mia, he lifts her left hand to place a kiss on her wedding ring as a sign of his love, faith, loyalty, and respect for Mia.>
Priest: Rudy and Mia, in front of your friends and family you have decided to renew your wedding vows. This is proof that true love never dies. May our Lord continue to bless this marriage. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen. Ladies and gentlemen, it is my honor to re-introduce to you Mr. and Mrs. Rudy Sarzo.
After we exchanged vows, we sealed our love and commitment to each other with a long passionate kiss and a hug that could have lasted a lifetime. Afterwards, we all sat down for dinner just enjoying the moment filled with great conversations, laughs, and full of love. Once we finished dinner, Rudy and I shared two very special moments...our first dance was to "Honestly" which was our wedding song. Then to commemorate our wedding vows renewal, we danced to the song that was dedicated to us by the band during the taping of "That Metal Show" entitled "The Deeper the Love". As we danced to both of our songs, we were surrounded by all in attendance. Rudy and Mia felt very blessed and fortunate to have been able to share this moment with the people whom they consider to be family. As the evening concluded, we thanked David, Adrian, Mackenzie, and everyone else who took the time to be with us on this very special day.
