Sarah and Lily stood in the dimly lit hallway of the police station, waiting for Detective Ramirez to finish his call. The buzz of the station, with its ringing phones and hurried conversations, seemed distant and muted, drowned out by the thunderous pounding of Sarah's heart.
Ramirez finally emerged from his office, his eyes widening in surprise at the sight of the two women. "Sarah, Lily," he greeted them, his tone a mix of curiosity and concern. "What brings you here?"
Lily glanced nervously at Sarah before stepping forward. "We need to talk to you, Detective. It's about Emily's case."
Ramirez's expression darkened, and he gestured for them to follow him into his office. Once inside, he closed the door behind them and motioned for them to sit. "What's going on?" he asked, his voice low and serious.
Lily took a deep breath, her hands trembling as she clutched the edge of her chair. "There's something I've been keeping from you, from everyone," she began, her voice shaking. "It's about Emily's murder. I know who did it."
The pair then continued to explain the whole thing, at first Detective Ramirez thought they were playing some kind of sick joke. He looked toward Sarah and saw her face change, her delicate smile twisted into a bone chilling grimace.
"I followed her out of the house, making sure to keep my distance. I waited until she'd turned the corner and drew my knife over her back," Sarah recalled the events with no remorse. "I pressed more the further I went. You should've heard her crying for help." She laughed in his face before her emotions twisted into a remorseful expression.
Sarah sighed loudly and tilted her head toward the ground, afraid to look up. Ramirez was staring at her, in shock almost, of the revelation. He placed his hand on her shoulder. "You know what I gotta do, right?" He asked, not really wanting to do it. "You're going down for a long time Sarah."
Her eyes widened and her head snapped toward him, these were her final recorded moments, there is no further recollection. No trial, no conviction. She looked at Ramirez, almost asking for mercy with her eyes. Then she spoke her final two words known.
"Kill me."
