Max's POV
When I was 7, it was "Mum, can I have a boy haircut?"
When my mum gave me 'the talk', it was "I don't want weird lumps on my chest."Since then, I have come out as transgender to everyone. I was known as the 'boy-girl' kid in primary school but when I moved school in year 4 no one knew me as the 'trans kid'. I was just Max. Not many people actually knew I was trans apart from the teachers and my best friend Violet.
Me and Violet did everything together from going to summer camp together to going on family holidays together. She never treated me any different when I told her I was actually trans.
When we went to secondary school, somehow everyone found out I was trans. Lots of people treated me differently and I got bullied. A lot. I wouldn't fit in with the boys. I wouldn't fit in with the girls. The only positive thing that came from that situation is me meeting my two other best friends, Colby and Lily. All three of my friends helped me through that situation. They reported anyone who called me anything rude and made sure there was a safe place I could go to.
Let's go to where this story is set. It's halfway through year 8.
