The moon hung low in the night sky, casting a haunting glow over the deserted hill where Ethan Rossi found himself standing. Shadows danced along the walls, twisting, and contorting in the dim light as if concealing secrets too dark to be revealed. Ethan's footsteps echoed hollowly against the grass as he navigated his way up the cliff, his senses on high alert.

"Lila?" he called out into the darkness, his voice barely a whisper.

"Ethan," Lila greeted him, her voice tinged with alarm. "You shouldn't have come."

Ethan stepped forward, his gaze searching hers for answers that remained vague. "I had to," he insisted, his voice tinged with determination. "Something's not right, Lila. I can feel it."

Lila's expression darkened, a shadow passing over her features like a fleeting memory. "You don't understand," she whispered her words a chilling reminder of the mysteries that lay hidden beneath the surface. But Ethan refused to be deterred.

"Then help me understand," he pleaded, reaching out to her with a desperation born of fear and uncertainty. But before she could respond, she turned to face the cliff's edge, her silhouette outlined against the moonlit sky.

Without warning, Lila stepped forward, her foot slipping on the loose gravel. Ethan's heart leapt into his throat as he lunged forward, his hand outstretched in a desperate attempt to catch her.

"Lila!" he cried out, the sound echoing through the night as she fell, disappearing into the darkness below.

And in that moment, as Ethan stood frozen on the edge of the abyss, he knew that nothing would ever be the same again.
