My mom's car would jolt me forward as I hit the breaks harshly, a few drunkards walking in front of me. I squint at the house that has colors of lights spewing from the windows and trapped music booming as if to escape out of it. I check the time on the cars screen- 11:24 p.m. I hit my hand on the steering wheel, letting out a few cuss words. On a school night Maeve, seriously. I remove my foot off the break, the car now slowly inching forward. I stop at the sight of Maeve sitting in the driveway, standing up quickly once she sees the car, the person beside her would help her up. I would observe. The person that helped her seemed way more sober than she was.

"Vivi~" My inebriated friend would sing, peering through the opened passenger window. "My hero has come to save me~" A chuckle would erupt from the person beside her who would be opening the passenger door for her. I hadn't realized who it was until he made sure Maeve was sat in the seat, trying to get her to buckle herself. I would reach over, buckling her in for him without saying anything to the male figure, who'd closed the car door.

"Well hero, you think you can manage to get her home alright?" I would glance at him. He acts like this is the first time I've had to do this. I would nod my head to him, Maeve looking in between the both of us, a very very wonky smile on her face, her eyes not focusing on anything. The guy would rub the back of his neck with his hand, grabbing his car keys from his pocket.

"I'll follow behind just in case, wait here." Before I could object to anything he would turn and jog off. Maeve would speak up rather cheerfully. "Woawh, Brant Thatchet is going to where know I live." She'd speak, completely butchering his name and her own sentence. I would rather mentally and physically be anywhere else right now. I would look at her, taking a breath.

"Maeve, it's a fucking school night you idiot." I would reach my hand out, slapping her arm lightly. She would look at me, laughing. I would observe her, allowing her to laugh her life away at the unfunny situation. She'd turn her head, looking at the car leaving the houses driveway, turning to not blind us with their headlights. Maeve would speak up, practically yelling. "Brant Thacket is ready follow to home!"

"Maeve.. that's not his name-" I would stop myself, putting my foot onto the pedal to start driving. She won't comprehend anything I say right now. I would glance over for a moment, "do you have all of your belongings?" I would hope she does, because driving back down the road would be too much of a hassle. As if all of this isn't already inconvenient. Her eyes would widen and her mouth would drop as she looks at me. I have my foot hover the break, nearly stepping on it.

"I'm kidding, everything I have.. I.." I look over again, her eyebrows furrowed. "I have.. everything." Her sentence would finally form correctly. I reach my hand over, pushing her head. "You can't make that face when I am driving, I nearly just checked Grants breaks." I would look back over once again, Maeve would look at me, her face filled with complete and utter confusion.

"Who is Grant?"

I pull up to Maeve's house, parking on the road after passing her driveway. I give Grant enough space to park behind me, in hopes he will help me get her into her room. I sigh in relief once I see him halt his car behind mine, getting out of it without turning it off.

"Should I go open the door for you guys? Or knock?" I wanted to laugh. But instead I gave him a humored look, refraining from calling him an idiot. He halts from walking towards the house at my facial expression, quirking up an eyebrow before he realizes. "Right.. drunk minor." I snap my finger at him, pointing to him. "Then how are you going to get her into the house?"

"We are going to shove her through her bedroom window." I give him a smile, his reaction shows that he regrets following to help. "Welcome to what I do every-time she gets completely plastered." His mouth opened for a moment, but he closes it before assisting me on removing her from the car.

After multiple stumbling incidents, me and Grant would place Maeve against her house below her window. I peer through it for a short moment before opening it. "It's a fire hazard to leave your LED lights on, Maeve." I grab her arm, her eyes not focusing on me as she looks at me. "Then let it all burn and you can call me fire girl." She'd slur, I assume she was attempting to quote The Hunger Games. I would let a huff move past my lips, lifting the girl into her room. "You couldn't shoot a bow even if you tried."

Grant would seem to be amused by our banter. I give him a side glance, his gaze seeming protective while watching Maeve tumble into her room. He seemed concerned for the drunk girl. I wave off his concern with my hand, causing him to look at me. "This happens too much for you to have that concerned expression." I start to pull myself into the window, putting my leg up and through. A line of light causes my gaze to look under her bedroom door. "Oh- sorry Maeve." I whisper, quickly getting out of the window and stumbling to the outside ground after completely dropping her onto the hardwood of her bedroom floor.

"Jesus- are you alrig-" I reach up, shoving Grants shoulder down to my level to disguise us under Maeve's window. I shush him. I hear her door swing open, the familiar voice of her dad. I cuss under my breath, tapping Grant. I wave my hand, leading him to go around the house to get back to our vehicles.

"Go go go!" I whisper shout once we reach the front of the house, both of us sprinting to our separate cars. He was laughing. Laughing?! How could he be laughing in this situation? Once I got into my car, the front door of their house opened. As my breath hitched fumbling with the keys, all the thoughts of Maeve's dad recognizing this car float in my head.

Right once the key was in the ignition starting the car I notice Grant turned his headlights off. I completely took off down the road before I could process anything else. A few more turns, I find my driveway and pull in. As I get out of the car, silently closing the door a familiar car pulled up, rolling the passenger window down. I freeze, looking over. "That was like.. the most mission impossible shit I have ever done." I let a sigh of relief escape. I walk up to the passenger door.

"You didn't have to follow me home." I look at him, Grant Thatcher in all his glory. In front of my house of all places in the town to be right now. I didn't like it. This was nowhere on my bingo card for this school year. All the sorts are out of order. He would present me a smile. "Had to make sure you made it safely too! Now that you are, I shall see myself off." He'd tip down a fake hat, driving off. What the actual fuck.
