In a desolate landscape, Zuko found himself alone, his stolen ostrich horse carrying him through the barren terrain. The journey so far had been long and arduous, and the weight of his decisions weighed heavily upon him, and he had no doubt it would continue to be like this for a while more.
Regret threatened his mind, but Zuko shoved it away, along with all thoughts of his Uncle Iroh, who he had pushed away days before, suggesting they separate so that Zuko could find and capture the Avatar with no distractions from his mission. They were just too different, he reminded himself.
As he rode through grasslands dotted with colossal, broken rocks—remnants of the Earth Kingdom's strength—Zuko's parched throat begged for relief. He reached for his water pouch, hoping for a refreshing drink, only to find it empty. Fatigue threatened to consume him, his vision blurring and his eyelids drooping.
Struggling to stay awake, Zuko fought against the encroaching darkness. He shook himself, desperate to remain conscious and alert. But the weariness proved relentless, and his eyes closed once more. In that moment, a vivid flashback seized him—a haunting image of a cloaked woman, ethereal and beautiful, turning away and disappearing into the depths of a dimly lit hallway, a memory he had always fought to keep away.
And as he drifted off from exhaustion, dreaming of visions of his past, he thought faintly he must've been mistaken as he saw the silhouette of a young woman, saying something he couldn't quite understand as she stood over him.

okay so this story is about zuko (obviously) from Avatar the Last Airbender, and my ATLA oc, Kyra Chen (who you'll meet in the next chapter)
these events are from season 2 (this chapter being obviously the episode Zuko alone) and the story will go on to the end of season 3 (maybe even after??)
there WILL be violence, bad language, and slight blood in this (i know its from a kids show but zuko would totally swear all the time)
there won't be any full-on smut (hes 16 y'all) but there is definitely loads romance <33
im going to try and keep to the plot but there will be some twists (i have a good one trust) and feel free to make suggestions for scenes
