"As the elders mentioned, your mission is to defeat a curse that had manifested in one of the abandoned mines in Yūbari." Unik sat in the back of the car as a Jujutsu High's director assistant drove her to the mine entrance and debriefed her on the mission's objectives. It was a dark and rainy day. Unik watched raindrops race each other down the window as the director's assistant continued divulging information "This particular mine saw many deaths from too much coal exposure and cave-ins...locals believe this mine in particular to be haunted by spirits of angry coal miners who suffered abuse from their boss while working in terrible conditions. Recently some construction workers were trying to maintain certain parts of the mine so it could become part of the Yubari Coal Mine Museum. However, some workers went missing...and with this being seen as a haunted location we fear that even more people will disappear." The car turned onto a dirt path and began driving up a dirt road that winded up a mountain. About 5 minutes passed before the car stopped in front of a construction site that blocked off the entrance of a mine shaft. The entrance spanned about 2 metres wide and 4 metres high.
"This is it." says the director's assistant, "please do your best and good luck. I will make a veil to make sure no one detects you."
"Thank you." Says Unik as she steps out of the car. Dawning an oversized raincoat Unik made her way to the entrance of the mine. Though the rain made the day feel cool, an unnaturally cold air trickled out of the opening like dry ice touching the water. The crushing presence of a powerful curse causes Unik to hesitate a moment before entering the cave, taking off the eye patch that covers her purple eye. Using her curse technique, Unik manipulated her right eye to give off a soft purple glow so she could see down the mine better. The whole tunnel was a long rectangle with wooden posts holding up the mountain that rested on top. Following the broken minecarts and the rusting rails on the floor, Unik listened for unusual noises...nothing. Wandering further, Unik finds curse residuals all over the walls and abandoned equipment. Blood splatters decorate the wall giving the air a metallic smell. A yellow hard hat with a gaping hole at the top whistles as the oddly cold breeze Unik felt from the entrance continued to bellow through the tunnel. Suddenly the perfect rectangular tunnel branches out, and a new path is made with walls of rough circles. It was an unnaturally large tunnel, about 7 meters wide and 10 meters high with cursed blood lining one side of the wall. Unik turns her eye back to normal and begins sprinting quietly down the large tunnel. It didn't take long for her to reach the end where a large cavern with long stalactites scattered around the ceiling and a large deep lake took up most of the floor.
Still standing near the entrance of the cavern, Unik sensed a weird presence below her. It felt like every breath she took was forcefully being pulled from her lungs and being drawn to whatever was below her. Slowly the presence moved closer to the lake. Heaving to keep the air in her lungs, Unik crept up to the edge of the lake and peered into the deep inky pool. At first, Unik saw nothing until two faint bulbs of red suddenly appeared. Unik leapt back just in time as the two red bulbs zipped to the surface of the lake. Jumping back to the entrance of the cavern Unik finally laid eyes on the presence that had been taking the oxygen out of her lungs. A large beast shoots out from under the water, towering over Unik. The body of the beast was the colour of coals, its eyes looked like a fire that had smelted two round holes into its head. Sharp fangs of jagged silver can be seen in the mouth of the beast. This curse's appearance filled the cavern with the smell of smoke, and the air in the cavern grew thin. Black mucus pours out of the curse's mouth and it hits the floor with a sickening squelch. From these pools of vomit-like goop crawls inky humanoid figures that sounded like they were wheezing and gasping for air. These figures stumbled towards Unik as if begging for salvation, dripping more pools of the mucus from their outstretched arms which caused more of these figures to rise. Unik stands in front of the hoard of groaning creatures as the massive curse stands behind its army, its eyes remaining a burning red.
