(Monitor learns her true purpose.)Suddenly awoken from her restless slumber by space debris outside, Monitor looked around the room with a cloudy head. She tried to collect her thoughts and remember what she was doing. She was... going to talk to Monochro, right? Yeah.
Soon finding herself walking down the halls, and to Monochro's office once more, the question she had before she slept lingered in the back of her mind.
...Was that it for her?The halls were colder now. The ship was quiet and still, the only sounds Monitor could hear were the hum of the engines and her metallic footsteps echoing across the floor, allowing her thoughts to grow loud and uncomfortable.
Monochro wouldn't do something like that to her... right?
Monitor approached Monochro's office again. She didn't know how long she was asleep for, but Monochro was probably still busy.
She lifted her hand to knock on the door, but Monochro must have heard her approaching, as he was already opening it. He looked at her, and gestured for her to enter, his usual smile across his face.
"Welcome back, Monitor." He said. "Are you here for anything in particular?"
"...Not really. I'm just bored and wanted to see what you were doing." She replied.
Monitor entered the room and sat down on the floor. Monochro sat in his chair, and looked at the many screens that he had, taking notes and watching attentively.Upon looking closer, she could tell what he was looking at. He seemed to be watching the show. Monitor could even recognize the contestants' voices:
"Do you think that I know where's where? I don't. Sorry." Said the voice of Conditioner, although pretty quiet coming from the screen.
From what she could see, and hear, the contestants were off exploring the different planets in hopes of finding a recovery center. Monochro seemed bored, yet, paradoxically, intrigued by this. Monitor could never really tell what he was thinking.
Still, her one question hung over her, colder than the air of the ship. Wondering if he would get offended, Monitor was hesitant to ask anything. However, she knew that if she didn't speak up, she wouldn't be able to shake the feeling.
Swallowing her uncertainty, she decided to get Monochro's attention.
"..Dad?" She spoke.
"Yes, Monitor?" He replied, turning his head to look at her.
"Is there anything else that you need me to do?"
"...Hm? Whatever could you mean?" Mono said, tilting his head.
"Well... it's just that... I already got the marble for you. Is that all you made me for? Is there nothing left for me to do?" She asked.
A smile began to paint Monochro's face.
"Of course not, Monitor. In fact, I have something to show you. It's a great surprise, I'm sure you'll enjoy it."Monochro rose from his seat, and signaled to Monitor, asking her to follow him.
Monitor trailed behind Monochro, who led her into places of the ship that she had never seen before. The walls of this strange area were littered with notes, drawings and tablets that displayed messages. Monitor couldn't look at them for long, but she could tell that they were about his experiments.
Eventually, they approached some sort of door, at the end of the hallway. The doors that stood in front of them were tall, metallic and locked up quite well, Monitor realized. Whatever was behind this door was something Mono wanted to keep highly protected.
A click of a button, and the doors flung open, with a gust of wind following. When Monitor's eyes adjusted to what she was seeing, she could hardly even comprehend it.
A machine that outstretched far past the stars stared back at her, a pure white figure with a screen, claws, large wings that almost matched the legion of colors within the heavenly bodies that were behind it, and, most notably, a silhouette of a star - or rather, one of its points - adorned its head, with gold and silver metal wires keeping it in place.
Monitor couldn't help but stare at it. It was beautiful.
Monochro smiled. "Wonderful, isn't it?" He spoke. "Monitor, soon, this vessel will hold your data, and turn you into a being of pure, boundless power."
Monitor looked at Monochro with amazement. "That's... me??" She said with disbelief.
"It's not quite you yet." He replied. "There is still work to be done, but when it's finished... you'll be unstoppable."
Monochro looked over at Monitor. "I hope this answers your question well. We have lots of work to do, Monitor. We can start now, if you're ready?"
Monitor nodded, with a small smile on her face.
She was excited to see what Monochro had in store for her, but a little sad.
Not wearing cat ears was gonna suck.
