As Sophia was finally free from Max's grasp, a tall, blond figure emerged from the shadows. His piercing blue eyes locked onto hers, and Sophia felt a surge of safety and protection.
"Hey, are you okay?" he asked, his deep voice gentle and soothing.
Sophia nodded, still shaken but grateful for the rescue. "Y-yes, thanks to you."
The stranger smiled, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "I'm Alex. I've been tracking Max for months. He's been on our radar for his shady dealings."
Sophia's eyes widened. "Who's 'our'?"
Alex chuckled. "Let's just say I have connections. But first, let's get you somewhere safe."
As they walked away from the scene, Sophia felt a sense of calm wash over her. Alex's presence was reassuring, and she found herself drawn to his kind and confident nature.
Over the next few weeks, Sophia and Alex grew closer, bonding over their shared experiences and values. Sophia found herself falling for him, but she hesitated, unsure if she was ready for love again.
