    Getuk is an Indonesian specialty from Java made from cassava.
This was first invented in Central Java during the Japanese occupation. At that time rice was a staple need that was very difficult to obtain. As a result, people used cassava as an alternative and processed it into the getuk or gethuk that we know today.
Its sweet and legit taste and attractive color make getuk a favorite snack for adults and children. The ingredients and how to make it are easy enough to try at home.

Ingredients:

- 1 kg cassava, peeled, washed and cut"
- 150 gr grated coconut
- 100 gr granulated sugar
- food coloring
- 1 tsp salt

Topping:

- A pinch of grated coconut + a pinch of salt and then steam for a while.

How to make getuk:

- Heat the steamer.

- Steam the cassava with 150 grams of grated coconut until cooked, about 30 minutes.

- Remove and transfer to a large enough container, then sprinkle 1 tsp salt and 100 gr sugar. Mix well.

- Prepare the cassava grinder. Grind a little at a time until it runs out.

- Divide into 3 parts. How to make getuk, give color according to taste.

- Then grind again in a long shape, arrange on a plate and ready to be served with grated coconut.

     That was one example of a recipe for getuk.Cassava used as the main ingredient of getuk symbolizes the meaning of simplicity. Cassava can grow anywhere but remains humble by not showing its fruit.

      Meanwhile, the grated coconut that complements the getuk dish symbolizes usefulness. All parts of the coconut tree have uses for humans. I like this food, so it become One Of my favorit food.

     Over the years, the popularity of getuk has been eroded by modern snacks. However, there are still many getuk vendors that can be found in traditional markets.
