Chapter 19: A fight

"Be in joy as you bask yourself in my presence," a lizardman exclaimed with his henchmen cheering for him in the background.

"Gabiru-sama!"

"Very cool, indeed."

"Truly!"

"Now, now. We have come here simply to convey a message. There is a disaster that is destined to befall upon this forest. Thus, I, Gabiru, am here to take all of you weaklings in, and you shall receive my protection as long as you serve under me. Hmph!" Gabiru said as he glanced at all of them,

"And we have heard that some of you have managed to tame Direwolves. We'd like to take some of those wolves too," he continued.

"Huh?" A tick mark appeared on the side of Shion's forehead, "Who the heck do you think you guys are?" Shion said, clearly irritated.

Just as she was about to reach out to her weapon, Rimuru suddenly reached out to her while being carried by Shizu, "Violence won't do you any good, Shion."

"Rimuru-sama..." she muttered as she looked at Rimuru. She gave it a thought before letting go of the hilt of her sword.

"And as for you folks," Rimuru said as he faced the group of lizardmen that was swarming over Gabiru, who was posing like an idiot, "We already have a plan in mind. We appreciate your concern. However, it is not necessary for you to take action for us."

"Hm? You ignorant fool! Did you not hear what Gabiru-sama has said? He is letting you take refuge in his protection. It will be your greatest honour to serve under him!" A servant of him said, pissed at Rimuru's words.

"That's right! You dare take advantage of his kindness?" A voice followed.

"Such arrogance!" Another.

Soon, some of the lizardmen had their weapons pointed at them.

(These folks...) Rimuru thought to himself as he glared at them.

"It seems that you all have no need for an ear since you do not know how to use it, yes?" Rimuru provoked with a mocking tone.

"W-what did you say!?" A servant exclaimed, clearly angry at him.

"Ah, yes. My bad. Are those things on your head supposed to be ears, or are they horns? No wonder you don't know how to take a no for an answer... or are you simply just that dumb?" He continued to say.

"Y-you!" The lizardmen said in embarrassment.

(Slime-san sure knows where to hit them and the guts without violence, huh... Well, I suppose that is also considered a battle tactic?) Shizue thought to herself while carrying Rimuru, who was in his slime form.

"Quit it," Gabiru finally spoke after watching their interactions unfold, "Say, does a slime like you only know how to talk shit with no action? Where have your tamer gone?"

"Ha-" Just as Rimuru was about to speak, he was cut off.

"No, never mind that. Where is the village head? I wish to speak to them directly instead of wasting my time here, talking with mere servants." Gabiru said.

"Oh? Have I not told you yet? I'm the master here," Rimuru said casually.

"Hm? Surely, you jest. That's a good sense of humour you have there. Now, where is he?" Gabiru said with a fake laugh. He then looked at the Dryad who confirmed Rimuru's words.

Seeing this, Gabiru and his henchmen were stunned, (So this slime isn't bluffing?) they all thought.

Gabiru coughed before speaking, "Well, it seems like we are getting nowhere. How about we talk about this the traditional way? The way where the weak follows the strong, yeah?" he said as he raised his chin, showing off a hint of superiority over Rimuru.

"Well, if that is what you wish to do, sure. However, I would feel too bad for you if I took you on. I feel like I would just be bullying you," Rimuru said.

He then looked at Gobta, who was half-asleep beside Hakurou,

"Gobta, you're up."

The bubble that was in Gobta's nose popped as he woke up when he heard Rimuru's order, "E-eh...?"

"Me?!" Gobta pointed his index finger to himself, shocked. His original green colour fading from his body.

"Yes, you. If you win, I'll have Kaijin and Kurobe-san to forge you your ideal weapon. Lose and I will have Hakurou-san train you with more intensity." Rimuru said as he snuggled back to Shizue's chest.

"Ora, ora, ora! Bring it on!" Gobta yelled, a bit of aura leaking from him.

"Hmph! Arrogant fool! Then, it shall be done!" Gabiru replied as he reached out to his henchmen. He was then given a crystal-blue colored trident.

He then performed a stunt as he shook his hair.

"Then, I shall look over this battle." Treyni said, "Please brace yourselves."

Gabiru looked at the Dryad, "Having you, the guardian of this forest, look over this battle is very reassuring smile have a fair outcome," he nodded, satisfied.

Treyni looked at Gabiru and then at Gobta before nodding. She raised her right hand, "Ready..."

Both Gabiru and Gobta immediately took their respective battle stance. Treyni then swung her hand that was raised back down, "Fight!" she yelled.

Gabiru immediately rushed towards Gobta with his trident pointed in his direction. A cloud of dust then flew from the ground because of his attack.

Gabiru then raised his trident, looking around frantically as the dust was covering his vision.

Suddenly, Gobta appeared from Gabiru's own shadow and kicked the back of his head. Gabiru was thrown back to where his fellow comrades were watching. The cloud of dust disappeared from the impact of Gobta's kick.

Of course, this left all of the lizardmen that were watching, shocked. Seeing their master thrown towards them in the middle of a cloud of dust left them in thought.

Not only that, it was a huge injury to their pride that a lizardman, a descendant of the lineage of dragons, have lost to a mere goblin.

(H...how could this happen?) they all thought in unison.

"The winner is Gobta!" Treyni announced as she gestured to him.

Hearing that, all the lizardmen quietly decided to walk away from them.

"Tsk..." they all said as they walked away from Rimuru and his group with the unconscious Gabiru being tended to.
