Once upon a time, hundreds of years ago, when neither you nor I were born, there lived a young girl called Cinderella. Why her parents gave her such an uncommon name? I do not know, so unfortunately, I cannot tell you. On with our story.

Little Cinderella lived with her parents in a chateau. That is the French term for a fancy house. Everything was as it should be. Cinderella was a happy child and on her fifth birthday, after much whining and tantrums, her parents gifted her a puppy. He was a clumsy little thing with brown fur and floppy brown ears, tripping over his own paws as he followed Cinderella about. She named him Bruno and they were the best of friends.

As we all know, good things don't last forever. Sadly, we bid farewell to Cinderella's mother at this point in our sad tale. Cinderella's mother rudely passed away in the middle of the night when it was impossible for anyone to tell her goodbye. Poor Cinderella was heartbroken. The main cause of her mother's illness was unknown and up to this day, it remains a mystery.

Cinderella's dear father, try as he might, was unable to raise a young girl on his own. He couldn't make head nor tail of women's fashion, he had no idea what it was growing girls wanted and he wasn't sure about what sort of advice he would give her should she ever approach him on such matters. So, he took another wife. It was a hasty affair, but seeing as he was a widower with a growing brat on his arm, he didn't afford himself the luxury of having several options. He kept the bar unbelievably low and in a week's time, he was wed to an awful, absolutely repulsive lady. Lady Tremaine. She fit the criteria for Cinderella's new step mother to a T. She was young, had daughters Cinderella's own age and most importantly, she was a desperate widow.

Anastasia, as seen in the unflattering image above, was one of the daughters of Lady Tremaine. It is unknown whether or not Anastasia and her sister are twins, but seeing as they're almost always seen together in the same style of clothing, I believe it's safe to assume, for the sake of the story that they are. Between both of the sisters, Anastasia was the tame one. That's not to say that she wasn't an awful child, she was just marginally better than her revolting sibling.
