"So what exactly were you doing in the cave?" I asked curiously.
"Do you seriously not know?!" Elyun asked. Well, I wouldn't say asked, more like... screamed in my ear.
"The Storm Dragon's presence has disappeared," she stated, her voice laden with urgency and disbelief.
"Is that really such a big deal?" I wondered aloud. I mean, he couldn't be that important, right?
Kaval shook his head, clearly exasperated. "The Storm Dragon Veldora has been a legendary presence, feared and revered for centuries. His disappearance is a massive event. It could throw the whole region into chaos."
Gido nodded, adding, "Yeah, it's not just about him being gone. It's about the power vacuum it creates. Other monsters and factions will want to move in and take advantage."
Elyun sighed, her initial shock giving way to a more measured tone. "We need to report this back to Blumund immediately. They need to be prepared for whatever's coming next."
"Alright," I said, feeling the gravity of the situation settle over me. "Let's get moving then."
As we started our journey, I couldn't help but think about Veldora. I hope absorbing him was the right choice. Regardless, I had a feeling things were about to get a lot more complicated.
In the time that I've been with Kaval's party, all they do is argue. They are quite possibly the most incompetent teammates I have ever seen. But, I must admit, it is fun to watch them fight. What's even more annoying is that they've started to include me in their arguments!
One afternoon, as we made our way through a dense forest, Kaval and Elyun were bickering about the best route to take.
"I told you, Elyun, we should take the path by the river. It's shorter," Kaval insisted, his tone exasperated.
"And I told you, Kaval, that path is infested with monsters. Do you want to get us all killed?" Elyun shot back, glaring at him.
Gido, ever the mediator, chimed in. "Guys, let's just calm down and think this through. Maybe we should—"
"Rimuru, what do you think?" Elyun suddenly turned to me, catching me off guard.
"Uh, well," I stammered, scratching the back of my head. "I mean, I don't really know much about the area, but if the river path is dangerous, maybe we should avoid it?"
Kaval huffed. "See, even Rimuru agrees with me!"
"I never said that!" I protested, but it was too late. The argument had already escalated, with both sides using my words to bolster their own arguments.
Despite the chaos, I couldn't help but find some amusement in their antics. Watching them bicker was like watching a comedy show, albeit a very loud and stressful one. Still, I couldn't shake off the feeling that our journey would be a lot smoother if they could just get along.
As we continued our trek, their arguments became a daily routine, with me often caught in the crossfire. I found myself mediating their disputes more often than not, trying to keep the peace while also keeping us on track.
"Rimuru, you're the tie-breaker," Kaval said one evening, as they argued over who should take the first watch.
"Why do I have to decide?" I asked, exasperated.
"Because you're the only one who hasn't picked a side," Elyun said, folding her arms.
Sighing, I tried to think of a solution. "How about we draw straws or something? That way, it's fair."
They both stared at me for a moment before reluctantly agreeing. It wasn't the most elegant solution, but it worked.
Despite their constant bickering, I had to admit that they had their moments. When it came to fighting off monsters or navigating tricky terrain, they somehow managed to pull together and get the job done. It was just the in-between moments that were driving me up the wall
