"Are you really writing that?" My strong voice comments from behind.
Akuka glares at me. "The fuck you want me to write Butter?" she snaps.
"Well..." I start, glancing over Akuka's shoulder to look at the writing once more, "could you, um, like, add more detail?"
"How do you suppose I do that?"
"I have no clue..."
"Great!" Akuka smiles with sarcasm, "Now you can shut while I write." She proceeds to dip the long, grey feather tip back into the ink and writes more onto the old page.
I move away from her and sit on a dusty, unused chair that lay against one of the walls of the old shed. I guess I took in a breath of the must because I let out a gut-wrenching goose cough that makes Akuka snap a look at me.
"Sorry!" I sputter quickly.
"Yeah, yeah, whatever," Akuka mumbles, returning to her writing.
I stare at the ground and swing my legs. At some point I start fidgeting with my fingers and mess a little with my hair.
"Do you think they're ever coming back?"
"What?" I question.
Akuka doesn't look up from her work. "Do you think the other two will ever come back?" She dips the feather again.
"I-" My answer is hesitant, completely unsure of what to say. "I don't know..."
"Oh well."
She stands up and walks over to a window, looking out towards the wooded area outside. I get up, too, and take a place beside her.
"Butter, if they don't come back-"
"THEY'LL COME BACK!" I yelp, cutting her off.
"Are you sure?" she questions, "Because if they don't... If they don't we'll have to find more members. Or this whole thing will fail."
"I know, I just..." I pause and breathe, "I just need some time. Shit's been hard enough with all- just- everything! For fuck's sake, my living quarter is literally an abandoned shed hidden in the woods off the side of the city!"
"You need to calm down."
"NO!"
"Yes."
"Fuck off," I scorn, face red with frustration.
Akuka just rolls her eyes and proceeds to stride back to her seat at the small, wooden table.
She pushes aside the book she was writing in and pulls up some other papers and a pencil. "We should make flyers," she comments, "To spread our cult."
"That's a good idea... But where would we even bring people to? We have no room."
"Let's expand the basement then."
