" Navie. Look who's here to see you" Anika announced excitedly.
Her son tavian was restless, waiting for the coming 'candidates ' for hours.
And worst of all his mother didn't exactly take into consideration his feelings.
You'd think I have the right to make my own decisions and dictate who gets to enter my life. Sadly that's not how things work for someone like me, and the society I live in has its eyes on my mother to do the 'right thing' with an omega son on her hands.Alpha's and omegas were meant to live a specific life, his mother was very keen on keeping that tradition alive. So now he had to meet Dork after dork, asshole after asshole, looking for a decent husband. That was supposed to be an omegas soul purpose in life, being a wife and bearing children.
Atleast some omegas were allowed to work now, thanks to the profound omega rights of 10 years ago. But that's a topic for another day.
Rolling his eyes Navie got up off the couch bowed his head in the direction of the door and made sure not to show his face. This was a sign of respect from omegas, they were expected to be submissive in every way. Challenging an alpha was a death wish. Navie always wondered how his life would be like had he been an alpha. Not someones wife to be that's for sure.
Two figures entered the room with navies mother trailing behind them. He could feel their gazes in his form, scanning for any default in their possible bride. Navie had heard of some cases where the potential inlaws liked the bride but asked her to change a certain thing about her appearance. Yeah he wasn't going to stand for that. He'd prefer to be mate less instead
"Wow Anika! He's gorgeous, your description surely didn't do him any justice" a loud tenor voice sounded in the room. " Look at me child"
Navie looked up to find a man of about fifty, feasting his eyes all on the omega boy.
Behind him was a younger man with similar features and taller in hight as the man infront of him.
" I don't really mind that he's a little dark skinned. He's skin is actually pretty light. Hes pretty enough.
He looked at Anika in approval.
" I found your profike quite interesting considering your status, an excellent wife for my nephew." He noddedNavies heart dropped and the wind was knocked out of his chest.
He couldn't possibly had heard right, nobody was that egotistical. Rude. Inconsiderate and discriminate people this way, atleast not in his world. He looked deep into the man's eyes and glared daggers at him. At that moment he didn't care about being an obedient or dutifully wife, he was pissed.
"Excuse you "
" Navie" he mother warned with her left eyebrow raised. But he wouldn't listen this time
" How dare you?" He demanded at the two men and scoffed at the younger one who was yet to speak.
" As if I want to marry your boney odd looking self in the first place but to come here and disrespect me?" The men stood there taken aback by the omega.
The young man's face held amusement.Omegas are meant to be quiet. Obedient. Submissive.
" Watch yourself omega, That's no way to talk to your in-laws" the man warned. He was clearly amused.
" Please forgive him alpha, he's had a very long day" his mother Anika begged.
" It's quite alright, this is exactly the kind of project my nephew needs." He had a proud look on his face that Navie couldn't understand.
" You're dreaming if you think I'm going to marry this thing you call a son" at that instance navie wanted to make sure there was no alliance that was to commence between the two families.
He could never survive racist inlaws. He envisioned the humiliation he could be exposed to being in a family like this. Over his dead body.
The younger man laughed like Navie had just said the funniest thing on earth. Navie would show them what he was really made off.
" Don't worry your sweet little heart short cakes we're not here for me, were here for my brother?" Navie was surprised to hear this news but he wasn't happy. This was the last family he could ever marry into. He didn't care which son.
" I don't care. Leave" Navie started to gather up his long flowing dress that was covered in glass jewels and intricate designs. It was a traditional tunic worn in the AO society by omegas. Alot of the first meetings for omegas often went well therefore the dowry was almost paid out on the same day. But there wasn't going to be a dowry today.
Anika, the boys mother started to panick. This was the forth rich suiter her son had turned away, she couldn't let him ruin his life at such a young age. Her son would not be subjected to poverty because he was so hot headed .
" Please alpha do not listen to him. I'll decrease the dowry if you excuse him . I promise he's a good boy and very trainable he had a very bad day today " the alpha scoffed.
" I'd like to believe you Anika but it's clear that your boy here is untrained. But he's cheap and very pretty so we'll take him. Make sure he's ready in two days." The men started to make an excit.
Navie couldn't believe what just happened, there was no way that just happened. He wouldn't be sold to that disgusting man's son he couldn't. Why was his mother just standing there and accepting this.
"No. no,no I won't go with you "
Hot tears starting streaming down his flushed face.
"Navie" Anika was now standing beside her son and pulled him to her frail elderly body" he took a step back from her . All he felt was betrayal not the loving arms of the woman who raised and took care of him.
"How could you? They were worse then the others yet you didn't stop them." Her eyes were filled with hurt but he didn't see any regret in them.
"Forgive me my son, but you have turned down too many good suiters-"
" They were all obnoxious or ugly or smelly or weird looking nerds and all you did was stand there. I never wanted this" his mother brought her palm up to his tear stained cheek
"I know. But you really need an alpha to take care of you. And you know word travels fast around here so if you keep behaving this way the candidate's are going to keep getting worse than the last or better yet you'll get reported to omega control.
Omega control was an organisation that dealt with omegas. From schooling to approving the documents for matching programs and omega submissive training. As long as it had to deal with an omega they were incharge.Tavians' face was getting more heated. He was very upset. The tears just kept coming ,his breathing heaved. It was actually happening.
"Look at me, darling," Anika whispered.
" This is your destiny.
The same as it was my destiny to meet your father. Sure, us omegas don't have much choice in this life. But you should know that this is what keeps us safe. Do not loath him.
Respect and obey your husband my son. I know you will come to love him as I did your father."
Anika smiled and left a wet kiss on her son's stained cheek. There was a warm smile on her wrinkled face. She excused herself to the other room.
Tavian allowed his body to collapsed on the couch. His posrer was slouched and his heart heavy.
At that moment all hope was lost. He'd never been lucky in his life. In this world pretty privilege came with a price, no omega wanted to pay.
He hated being an omega and he hated being called pretty. And if there was one thing he knew was that he was not going to get lucky in the husband department.
