Amrita's pov:-
I woke up early morning, hearing many people shouting and running, I panicked and went to my mother and saw that she was decorating our house from outside. I went to her and asked,"maa ye kya kar rahi ho? Koi mehmaan aarha h kya?"(Mom what are you doing? Is any guest coming today?) She looked at me and told me to go get ready. I obeyed her without asking any further and wore my light blue lehenga (long dress) put some kajal (kohl) on my eyes and went to her and asked her again. To which she replied that today the king is coming to take a look at our village. Now even I was panicking because I have heard about him that he is completely cruel, ruthless and merciless man. I haven't seen him though. But because my mother works in the palace I have heard many things about him and she also tells me stay away from him. I nodded my head and went to Geeta who was also standing with the crowd. I went near her and asked her what is happening and she replied that king's rath (carriage) is now about to come and people have gathered here to welcome him. I asked about what she is doing here and she told me that she never saw the king but heard from other girls that the king looks handsome and that's why she wants to see him.
The king looks handsome? So what, we are the common people living in village and he is a king, there is a huge gap between us so talking about him like this, I hope we won't get in trouble. I looked in front and patiently waited for the carriage to come and after almost 10 minutes, suddenly huge sounds of instruments could be heard and people started shouting "long live the king/ hail to our king" and when I was finally able to look through the crowd I saw the king in his carriage, proudly standing but with a neutral face. Wait, haven't I seen him somewhere? I again zoomed my eyes on his face and gasped. I was that man who I saw near the waterfall. So the man who I thought was suspicious was actually the king. Oh god Amrita, you didn't come in front of him or else god knows what would've happened. I took in some deep breaths and looked at him. Just then one boy from behind me, gave me some flowers and when I looked at other people, they were throwing those flowers on the king. I had a whole marigold in my hands and when I threw that, it got stuck in his majesty's hair but he didn't seem to be very much affected by it as many flowers' petals were already covering him. He crossed our streets and went further and only then did anyone moved from his/her position and went inside their houses. Even me and Geeta left for my home.
We reached my home and I went towards maa while Geeta sat in the lunch area. I went in the kitchen, I could smell the delicious smell of kheer which maa was preparing. I went towards her and asked if it's done to which she nodded her head and gave it two bowls and told us to eat slowly as it's still hot. I took the bowls and went to where Geeta was.
I went towards her, gave her one bowl and we both began eating while having a chit-chat. After finishing our kheer, we went to the kitchen and kept our bowls there and then Geeta went to her home.
After Geeta left, it was only me and maa so I decided to go to the temple to view the garden.
I went to get ready and change clothes. I wore yellow lehenga with red duppata and silver earrings which maa once gifted me in my birthday, wore my sandals and kept my hair in a low bun and went to say goodbye to maa.
After saying goodbye to maa, I took my veil and left for the temple. Within few moments I reached the temple as it was not that much far from my house. I reached the temple, bowed my head infront of the goddess Durga's statue and prayed for me and my parents safety and for everyone's well being.
After praying, I took the prashad and went towards pandit ji for the blessings. I took the blessings and started to wander off in the garden area of the temple.
Just as I was roaming in the garden looking at different flowers, suddenly,"Pakad liya."(Caught you). And someone grabbed my shoulders from behind.
I turned back and saw it was Jaiveer, my neighbour's son who was same age as mine. I looked at him and hit him on his shoulders saying,"Ye koi tarika hai kisiko pakadne ka. Main chuppan chuppai to khel nhi rahin hoon tumhare saath to pakad kis baat ke liye liya."(Is this a way to catch someone. I am not playing hide and seek with you so what was that for?) I asked him but all he did was grinning. Oh god, nothing can be done with his attitude.
He then started walking by my side and we had a little talk about our day. While talking, I didn't even realise that we were out of the garden. When I noticed my surroundings, I saw that we were out so I told him that now I should head home or else maa will be worried. He told me that he will drop me at my house and then he will go towards his. I agreed and we started walking towards our houses' street.
Within few moments, we reached my home and I said goodbye to him and went inside when maa opened the door. After coming inside, I went towards my room and change my clothes and went for dinner.
After dinner, I went to my room and laid on the bed thinking what I should do tomorrow. Just after few moments of laying on the bed, sleep took me and sent me in my dreams.
Little did she know that tomorrow, her whole life is going to change forever and the only thing she could do was to watch.
