Day: Wednesday

"MOM!!" Everly shouted, her voice echoing down the stairs.  She nearly tripped, her rush to the kitchen betraying her excitement.

"Yes, dear?" Enid responded, her smile faltering as her eyes landed on the object Everly clutched.  "Who's this?" she asked, her finger pointing to a photograph within a worn album. The picture showed a smiling brunette girl embracing a woman.

Enid snatched the album from her daughter, hugging it protectively to her chest. Everly's brow furrowed in confusion.

"Mom? Are you okay? ...Can you tell me who that girl is?" Everly asked softly.

"It's nothing. Where did you find this?" Enid asked, her voice tight, her gaze fixed on the album.

A heavy silence descended, broken only by the quiet rustle of the aged pages. Enid's mind was flooded with a rush of memories, vivid and painful, triggered by the image.

"Uh, in the attic… I was just exploring," Everly replied, her voice hesitant.  A moment later, she pressed, "Can you tell me now, please?!?"  Her tone was desperate.

"No!" Enid's response was sharp, immediate.

"Please, Mom? I promise I won't bother you again with this!" Everly pleaded. Enid hesitated, weighing the potential consequences of revealing the truth against her daughter's persistent questioning.

"Fine," Enid sighed, finally giving in. "Sit down."

Everly, radiating relief, perched on a kitchen chair, her eyes sparkling with anticipation. Enid cleared her throat, steeling herself for the difficult task ahead.

"It all started when…"

Flashback:

No One's POV:

"GOD, FUCK YOU!" The boy screamed, hurling objects across the room. Enid, her face a mask of pain and betrayal, sobbed uncontrollably after discovering her boyfriend's infidelity – a betrayal with her sworn enemy.

"I HATE YOU, YOU FUCKING BITCH!" Enid shrieked back, her voice raw with anguish. "You know what? We're over!"  Tears streamed down her face, mixing with smeared makeup; her hair was a tangled mess, reflecting the chaos within.

"Fine! Suit yourself, you worthless whore!" he spat, grabbing his belongings and heading for the door.  He paused, turning back with a cruel twist of the knife.

"Sheila was so much better than you, and much more fun, too," he sneered, before finally slamming the door.  "Go to hell!" Enid screamed after him, the words echoing the emptiness in her heart.

Enid's POV:

"I hate my life," I mumbled, tears still falling, my body trembling with a mixture of exhaustion and heartbreak.  The sweat clung to my skin, a physical manifestation of the emotional turmoil.

I forced myself to clean up the mess, the shattered remnants of what had been their relationship, a painful reminder of the betrayal.  By the time I finished, it was midnight.  I showered, the hot water doing little to wash away the sting of humiliation.  I collapsed onto my bed, sighing, the weight of the day pressing down on me.

This was, without a doubt, the worst day of my entire school career.

Lying flat on my back, staring at the ceiling, I let the bitter thoughts consume me.  "When am I going to experience true love?" I wondered, the question a fragile hope amidst the wreckage.

After what felt like an eternity of silent contemplation, exhaustion finally claimed me, and I fell into a restless sleep.

No One's POV:

I awoke to the sound of a door opening.  I sat up quickly, startled, and saw a tall woman standing in the doorway.  She smiled warmly.

"Good morning, Enid. This is your new roommate," Ms. Weems announced, gesturing to a striking brunette girl who stood beside her.  The girl looked… incredibly captivating.  I rubbed my eyes, yawning.

"Good morning," I mumbled.

"Hi, my name's Enid," I said, approaching the girl, my initial impression of her striking beauty slightly overwhelming.  She looked me up and down before replying, her tone unexpectedly blunt.

"Wednesday… Wednesday Addams," she said.

"Alright, Enid, why don't you change and show Wednesday around the school?" Ms. Weems suggested, giving Wednesday a final glance before departing.

A tense silence hung in the air as we regarded each other.  Suddenly, a spark ignited between us, a flicker of something unexpected and intense.

Wednesday, breaking the silence, spoke in a surprisingly soft voice, "I suggest you change while I settle in. I'll wait for you to show me around."  She moved to her side of the room, placing her belongings down.

"Right!" I exclaimed, rushing to the bathroom, grabbing a change of clothes.  The encounter left me breathless, a sense of anticipation mingling with the lingering pain of my recent heartbreak.  The possibility of something new, something unexpected, was beginning to bloom amidst the ruins of my past.  The rest of the day unfolded in a blur of introductions, campus tours, and stolen glances that spoke volumes more than words ever could.  This was just the beginning of a story neither of them could have ever predicted.
