WORD COUNT: 1020
~~~"Come on girl, I said sorry!" Your husband whined over the phone. Before he had left for Friday Night Smackdown you two got into the most pettiest argument ever.
You rolled your eyes, not listening to a single word he said. "Yea, yea. That's what you always say Jey."
Jey sucks his teeth. "No baby seriously! I was just mad, I didn't mean nothing that came outta my mouth. I love you like crazy, you know that! I'll make it up to you when I get home, Imma do everything you want! It was just in the heat of the moment — You still pissed about what I said about yo mommas potato salad?"
"Yes!-" You said almost instantly. "Jey my momma potato salad does not taste like pencil erasers!" You argue.
"It taste nasty though. I can't help it- I really do like yo momma food. Not that damn potato salad though.. I can't lie." He chuckled a bit.
"..It's not funny! Take it back-"
"I'm jus playing with you! You know yo momma can throw down. Her mashed potatoes, her yams, Even her mac & cheese is bangin when she puts that extra cheese in it!" He pauses. "Just not that damn potato salad.." You heard him mumble under his breath, thinking he was slick.
"Joshua Samuel Fatu! You not fucking slick, stop calling my momma potato salad nasty!"
He was quiet at first, before bursting out into laughter, rolling around on the hotel bed. "The potato salad is ass though! You gotta admit that."
"You know what-" You hang up on your husband, not wanting to deal with his dumb antics.
About 3 days later Jey arrived home for Memorial Day, you two weren't gonna do much besides go over to your family's house for a cookout.
"You ready?" You poke your head into the bathroom door where Jey was getting ready.
"Ma you sure you don't wanna go get some Popeyes or sum? I'm so hungry, I been craving those chicken tenders since the moment I landed." Jey rubbed the back of his neck.
You squint at him, seeing right through him. "You not getting out of this Jey. We both finna eat there and that's final."
"See- Alright, Whatever, let's go." Jey rolled his eyes and grabbed his keys.
You and Jey arrive at your parents house as it's already a bit packed and chaotic. You and Jey walk up the driveway as your mother spots you guys and greets you both.
"You both made it! We've been waiting for you guys." Your mom said with a big smile.
"Hey momma!" You greeted hugging her tightly.
Jey leaned in and hugged her as well, your mom smiling as she embraced him.
"How you doing baby?" She looks up at him.
"I'm good moms, thanks for askin'." Jey smiled as he patted his stomach. "Smells good though! I can smell them ribs from a mile away!"
"Now Jey, yknow I got your favorite in the kitchen! Potato salad, I made it just for you." Your mom smiles up at him, you laugh at it.
"O-Ohh! Yea, thanks moms! I uh.. Can't wait!" Jey looks over at you, knowing you mentioned something to your mother.
"What's wrong boo?" You say looking your husband as he squinted at you.
"Nothing!" He replied simply, shortly following after your mom into the house.
Your mother chuckled as the three of you walked inside. As you walked in you could hear the loud laughter of your sisters, cousins and other relatives in the living room.
"Look who finally showed up!" Your mom announced as everyone turned their heads.
Jey and you both greeted and hugged everyone before he went outside with most of the men to play cards etc. All the while you stayed inside with everyone else to catch up.
Not that much time had passed when your father called out all the food was ready. You, your sisters, aunties, mom, the kids etc all went outside to make your plates. When you walked out Jey was chatting it up with a few of your uncles, so instantly you thought of something.
Making Jeys plate you made sure to give him all of his favorites, but you definitely made sure to give him some potato salad.
You went and sat down by him, giving him his plate. "Here you go baby!" You smile at him.
"Y/N.." He glares at you.
"What?"
"I know what you doin girl."
"Boy just eat yo damn food!"
You guys ate and conversated with almost everyone. You looked over at your husbands plate, seeing everything but the potato salad had gotten ate.
"What's wrong baby? Why you ain't eating ya potato salad?" You taunt him, knowing he wouldn't say a thing since your mother was sitting right by you guys.
"I'm just- full."
"At least take a bite baby!"
"Yea baby, gon head take a bite! I made it just for you!" Your mom smiles at him.
A few of your little cousins and your nephew sat at the table with both you and your husband, they all sat and stared at him, waiting for him to take a bite.
Jey slowly picks up his utensil, taking the most tiniest bit of it. Before he would bring it to his mouth your mom stopped him.
"Nah uh baby- Get you a big bite!"
Your husband smiled at her awkwardly and put some more on there, slowly and hesitantly bringing it to his mouth. He eventually took a bite, chewing and smiling at your mom.
"It's good?" She looks at him.
"Yea, is it good?" You raise a brow at him.
He nods, trying to keep a straight face.
"Good! I'll get yall some to take home then!" Your mom grabbed hers and some of the kids trash and walked off.
Jey quickly spit it out on his plate. "Gah dayum that shit is ass!"
Your 8 year old nephew gasps. "OUUU GRANNY UNCLE JEY SAID THE POTATO SALAD WAS ASS!" He ran off, Jey chasing after him. "NO I DIDNT, HE LYING!"
