Chapter 6: The Formless Foe

The figure formed out of pure darkness, blocking Mirror's path. Its figure swirled in space, not giving it a specific appearance. It appeared both tall and short at the same time, and Mirror struggled to get a grasp on the seemingly formless shadow. A great sword forged from pure light appeared in their hand, crackling with lightning. Mirror grinned at the new figure that blocked their path, as it also summoned its own ethereal scythe.

Mirror burst forward, shockwaves erupting from the ground beneath their feet, as they crossed blades with the figure in a whirlwind of sparks. The blades danced in the dim light, their movements a blur of motion. Mirror pushed the shadow and dashed towards it almost immediately, striking with their great sword harder than the last. The shadow blocked with the curved blade of its scythe, leaning slightly towards the left foot to send Mirror off balance, before slamming the hilt of its weapon into their head in one fluid movement.

Mirror burst back up, grinning savagely as they ran towards the shadow. The figure conjured a swirling vortex of darkness, its center aimed directly at Mirror. With a swift motion, Mirror raised their sword, unleashing a beam of pure light that pierced the heart of the vortex, dispelling its darkness. The shadow retaliated with a wave of its scythe, its blade slicing through the air with a haunting whisper. Mirror leapt into the air, their sword flashing in a wide arc, striking true and sending the shadow stumbling backward.

The battle raged on, the two combatants exchanging blows in a frenzy of light and darkness. The outcome was far from certain, as the two foes clashed in a maelstrom of steel and shadow.
