Whatif I was just a painter? Painting houses on the rich blue coast?
Marcie's POV
I walked down the stairwell of the Bed and breakfast my father owned. I soon entered the main lobby and went to the front door and locked it. I sighed. My older sister Katelynn was sitting at the check-in desk and heard me. "What's the matter sis? Feeling bad again?" Katelynn looked at me in concern. Ugh I wish she wouldn't do that to me. "It's not that. I'm just worried about dad is all." I told her. Lately ever since our mom died of cancer a few months ago, he had been going off on long trips, and wouldn't return for hours, or sometimes days. "Don't worry Marcie, he will be back. He always comes back." Katelynn said in a sad voice. "I know. I hope he comes back soon though, he's been gone for almost a week." Katelynn flipped her curly black hair behind her shoulder and started up the stairs. "Me too. I'm going to bed. See you you in the morning."
I listened as she walked up the stairs, and waited until I heard her door click shut. I turned to the desk and turned on the stereo that was there to The Boy Who Could Fly by Pierce The Veil. My sister doesn't like my music, so I have to wait until she goes to sleep to play it. Bitch. It's her loss, she doesn't have a clue what she is missing out on. I have been obsessed with Pierce The Veil ever since they come and played at San Hose where we live. Me and my best friend Joey went to go see them. I liked them so much I decided to go in the lead singer's footsteps and get a nose ring. My sister flipped out about that. Iooked through the new AP magazine as I waited for five o'clock to come, which was when I get to go to sleep.... Until seven. I read for a few hours and started to get sleepy. I soon began to drift off.
Katelynn's POV
I walked up the stairs to my room. Me, Marcie, and our dad all live at the Bed and Breakfast, since we can't afford to live anywhere else. Soon after I got in my room I began to hear music downstairs. "Really Marcie? Again?" I hate Marcies's music, I would never tell her this, but it scared me. I can't understand how someone could stand to listen to someone scream in your ear for almost 4 minutes or however long the song was. "I'll never understand her." I thought to myself. I got in my bed and went to sleep.
.My alarm woke me up at 4:30. I had to make breakfast for the guests at 5:00 but I took a shower before. After I was done washing off I got out and wrapped a towel around me and padded into my room. My phone started to ring. I looked at my caller ID. "Daddy?" I said into the phone. "Katelynn? There is some people I told to go to the B&B, tell them I will be there....", A horrible screaching sound, and then the call ended. I looked down at my phone in disbelief. What just happend?!
I ran down the stairs. "MARCIE!" Marcie was dead asleep in the desk chair. "MARCIE!" I snapped. I am SO fucking tired of her bullshit! She is always falling asleep on the job that she gets PAID for! I shook her shoulder to wake her up. "What the fuck?!" She yelled before falling out of her chair. Marcie stood up. "O shit. I fell asleep again." She looked at me then said, "Katelynn what's the matter? And why the hell are you in only a towel and with dripping hair?" Nevermind that!", I said, "Dad just called me and there was a horrible noise and....." I bust into tears. Marcie just stared at me and then grabbed my hand and guided me to the chair. "Kate, just calm down and tell me what happend." I told her about the call. "Maybe it was just a phone prob, we don't know something bad happend." All of the sudden there was a knock on the door. We looked at each other in silence, then Marcie got up and went to the door. I watched as she unlocked and opened it. "I am so sorry, we should of had the door unlocked already." She stopped. I couldn't see who it was, but the look on her face scared me. "Holy shit." She said real quiet. Oh crap, I thought.
Vic's Pov
Me and my band members rode down the road at 5:00 in the morning. The one thing I hate most about being in a band. Getting up so fucking early. We left San Francisco at 3:00 this morning to go meet our new manager at some Bed and Breakfast in San Hose. I looked back at everyone in the van. Mike, was sleeping, and Jaime was in a deep conversation with Tony about the Mutant Ninja Turtles or something like that. Really? I thought. "Tony, get over yourself." I told him. He looked at me with a smirk on his face. "Shut up Vic! Your just jealous of all this", he said, gesturing to his body.
"I am. But I couldn't handle it." I laughed. Jaime laughed along with me. "Looks like we have a Perciado going on here." Mike woke up. "Nah man that's me and Tony." We all laughed. We were almost there so I decided to call Andy, our new manager. "Did he answer?" Mike asked. "No, I guess he is just busy." But I had a bad feeling. We arrived at the B&B. Jaime literally crawled over me to get out. "WHAT THE FUCK MAN?!" He rolled on the ground and started yelling, "FRESH AIR AHHHHH!" Jaime has problems. We all stumbled to the door of the Phillips Inn and I knocked since it was locked. Suddenly the door opened. "I am so sorry, we should of had the door unlocked already." She stopped. I looked at her. She was about my height, with dark blonde hair to her shoulder with highlights. She was beautiful, I couldn't stop staring. "Oh shit." She whispered. Yea. I was thinking the same thing. "Hi. We're here to see Adam?......" Jaime said to my left. "Uh. I. Um. Ummmmm." She stuttered.
Then we heard another girls voice, "What's wrong Marcie? Who is at the door?" Marcie, Im assuming, opened the door wider. We then could see who was talking to her. A girl with short black hair looked us over. I then realized she was only wearing a towel to cover her body. "Damn." Tony said behind me. Me and the guys all looked the other way. Except Tony. "Katelynn...." Marcie said. "Oh my God!" She yelled and then ran upstairs. Marcie looked like she had recovered, and began to apologize to us. "I'm sorry you guys. She just had just got out of the shower when she got a weird phone call from my dad. Come in." We followed her to what looked like the lobby. The whole time she kept glancing behind her, as if to make sure we wouldn't dissapear. "Pierce The Veil right?" We nodded.
"Wait. You said Andy sent you here. Why would my dad be talking to famous people?" I looked at the guys. "Andy is your father?" I asked her. She nodded. "How did you not know he manages bands?" Why would her own father not tell her this? I know he just started a few years ago, but come on! He should've told his own family. "We ARE talking about the same Andy right?" "Yes. Andy Phillips right? He owns the Phillips Bed and Breakfast. Am I correct?" She didn't answer though, she was staring off into space. "Marcie what is the matter with you?" Katelynn ran down the stairs. She was now wearing a blue sundress with brown cowboy boots. "Are you hear to check in?" "No," Marcie said to her then to us; "We haven't talked to our father in weeks. He just called my sister my sister about 10 minutes ago, and his phone was cut off. Katelynn said it sounded like he was in a wreck. We have no way of knowing for sure." I looked at the band. "We just tried to call him and he wouldn't answer." O shit.
