I was as just every other person in New York, rushing through the streets at rush hour. I had my headphones on and my gaze focused on my phone as I bumped into someone.
"Oh I'm sorry," he apologized as he held my arms in a tight grip. I took off my headphones and shrugged it off, "No problem. I was the one bumping into you"
He slightly laughed and scratched his light stubble. "Can I maybe buy you a coffee? To make this up to you?"
I laughed, "But I was the one bumping into you."
"Then why don't you buy me a coffee?" he said, a light grin appeared on his mouth.
"Why not." I muttered
We made our way through the crowd until we reached my most favorite coffee shop.
"What's your name? If I may ask you.." he asked as we stood in line.
"Dottie," I said still being unsure of whether I should tell him my last name or not. I decided not to.
"Dottie? Nice to meet you, my name's Patrick" he said, reaching out his hand to shake mine.
I placed my small in his rather large, warm hand, he had been keeping his hands warm in his coat pockets the whole time.
"Hi Patrick," I said and then it was our turn to order. "Uhm, chocolate milk and whipped cream," the guy said.
I chuckled, it was a coffee shop.
"Excuse me sir, it's a coffee shop." the girl behind the counter said
Patrick giggled like a little kid and coughed, "I knew that. Uhm, just a normal coffee with milk and a little cloud of sugar."
"Same for me, please." I said right before the woman was going to say the cost prize.
"That will be £4,20 please" the girl said.
I paid the prize, she handed our coffees and we sat down at a table, him across of me.
"So normally I don't do this." I said as I took a sip of my coffee.
"What?"
I chuckled, "well, bumping into someone and buying them coffee and talking and stuff like that."
"Why not?"
"I don't know, just because."
"What if you meet the guy of your dreams like that?" he smiled as he then took another sip of his coffee.
