{ CHAPTER FOUR: NATURAL }
"STOP! OH MY GOD, YOU ARE SO WRONG FOR THAT." Ariel shoved Hailee from across the table in a booth at a classic 80's diner that stood nearby their school.
"Why?!" Hailee laughed and adjusted her position, her feet kicked up on the window sill with her arms crossed. She wore ripped, cargo pants with a acid-washed grey, vintage shirt and some white high top converse.
"You'd really block someone if they didn't text you back within 2 hours?" Ariel sipped the chocolate milkshake in front of her. She crossed her legs underneath her. Ariel was wearing forest green sweats, a black AC/DC shirt with one of Hailee's black and white plaid flannels over it. Some checkered vans on as well to complete the look.
"Yes." Hailee responded back with a 'duh' tone. "I need my girlfriends to be as obsessed with me as I am with them."
Ariel laughed alongside her new friend, their basket of fries sitting in between them in the middle of the table. "You know what? I can understand that."
"How's things with Niall?" Hailee broke the small silence that took over them. Ariel tensed up for a moment before sighing, beginning to fiddle with the small jam packets that were pressed against the wall at the other end of the table.
"They're... just a little better. Not like with him, I mean like with the things he's done." The shorter girl reexplained as she pushed her empty milkshake cup to the side. "He's not around as much; always working on music with his band, but that's it. I'm glad, I get to have some free time now."
"I'm glad." Hailee muttered back as she rested her chin on her folded up hands, leaning forward on her elbows. Her eyes locked on Ariel's. "You should come over to my dorm. You know Billie? Billie O'Connell or Eilish- whatever the fuck she goes by."
"Yeah, yeah I know her." The latter chuckled while twirling her hair in her between her fingers. "She's super cool. And hot. She's hot." Hailee burst out into laughter, throwing her head back as Ariel blushed slightly, giggling alongside her while burying her face in Hailee's flannel that she was wearing.
"I guess she kinda is." Hailee scratched the back of her neck awkwardly.
"I think I just like masculine people." Ariel winked at Hailee, a little bit of an underlining teasing tone to her voice.
"Hm, well, I will relay the message to Billie." Hailee smirked as she sipped the soda in her hand. "She finds you hot as well."
"I mean..." Ariel trailed off for a moment as she leaned back in her seat, pulling the hood of her flannel up slightly over her head to hide her messy bun. "She's hot, but if I were to hook with someone, it wouldn't be her."
"Who then?" The girl's curiosity got the best of her. Hailee just suddenly found herself leaning forward in interest.
"Not saying." Ariel teased before pulling out who $20 bills and grabbing Hailee's hand to lead her outside of the diner.
"What? Not fairrrr." Hailee dragged out in a childish tone, smiling when Ariel playfully rolled her eyes. "Do you want me to drop you back off before I head to practice?"
"Yes, please." The pair headed off to Hailee's car where they proceeded to drive back to UCLA. Ariel kissed Hailee's cheek as a 'goodbye' before quickly marching her way up to her dorm. Hailee blushed while holding her cheek, mindlessly driving to park closer to the softball field.
After changing in the locker room, Hailee did a few stretching exercises to work her muscles and get herself prepared for practice today. Suddenly, her phone buzzed off from her back pocket. She pulled it out and saw it was a text from Ariel.

Her cute button nose and perfectly shaped lips, her pearly white teeth, her adorable messy hair, and her sweet little hand heart. All of it made Hailee physically freeze and break the fourth wall.
She got a weird look from Flo.
